As a parent, I notice some interesting things about my kids. For instance, their preference of dips and sauces. My daughter loves dressings and dips. She’s one of those kids who licks the ranch off her carrots or the ketchup off her fries so she can re-dip without having to take a bite.
My son likes to eat things plain. No sauce on his spaghetti (what?!), no dressing on his salad, no dip for his fries or chicken nuggets.
Luckily, my daughter takes after me. I love to dip my food! If a recipe calls for sauce, I double the sauce portion so there’s leftovers to dip in. Chicken is better when you have sauce to dip it in. I’ll dip my hamburgers in ranch if I can. Veggies cannot be eaten without dip.
And French fries? Forget about it! You must have dip. And ketchup does not count. You need a real dip that satisfies and makes you want to grab another fry.
Of course, if you’re going to make delicious – and EASY – dips, you have to have something worthy of them. In this case, I chose Alexia fries. Why? Just check this out!
I rest my case. If you haven’t tried Alexia fries yet, stop what you’re doing, run to Walmart, and go get some. Right now. I can wait. (Psst! They’re in the potato aisle in the freezer section! Yep, even the onion rings.)
You back already? Great. Fire up the oven and then head to the fridge. You’ve got dips to make. Hurry! The big game will be on any minute!
Sweet and Tangy Fry Sauce
¼ Cup Mayonnaise
½ Cup Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce
2 TBSP Mustard
1 TBSP Monterrey Chicken or Steak Seasoning
Combine all ingredients and refrigerate at least 10 minutes before serving.
Garlic Parmesan Fries with Spicy Mustard Sauce
1 Bag Classic Crinkle Cut Fries from Alexia
½ tsp Garlic Powder
½ – 1 tsp Dried Parsley
¼ cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Cover baking sheet with tin foil.
Arrange fries in a single layer and sprinkle with garlic powder.
Stir fries halfway through baking, and sprinkle on parsley.
When fries are cooked, remove from oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Return to warm oven for two more minutes.
Serve with Spicy Mustard Sauce.
For the sauce
¼ Cup Mayonnaise
¼ Cup Sour Cream
2 – 3 TBSP Spicy Brown Mustard
½ tsp Lemon Juice
Mix all ingredients and let it refrigerate for at least ten minutes before serving.
The sweet and tangy fry sauce is like a creamy BBQ sauce. So delicious! Perfect for anything you want to dip. I especially loved it with those Crispy Onion Rings!
The Spicy Mustard Sauce isn’t actually “spicy.” It has more flavor than kick. Just the way I like it! It’s very versatile too. We not only use it for fries, but we also use it on sandwiches, burgers and fish tacos. When we grill up some halibut, this is our go-to dipping sauce.
