I’ve seen some amazing ideas across the years from adding it to baked potatoes, making mini macaroni & cheese cups and even turning it into a fun macaroni & cheese bar with toppings like bacon, peas, mushrooms and more. And of course there is the traditional taco salad with KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner.
And all of these are awesome ideas for dinner. Seriously they all sound fantastic. But my family has this obsession with chicken. Plus chicken is a lot nicer to my preggo tummy than other options right now.

I love that this recipe is so simple to make, and definitely fits into the comfort food category. Plus it’s a great dinner to gather around the table with and enjoy some family time after a rushed and chaotic week.
Begin by preparing the KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner according to the directions on the box.
While the macaroni is cooking you can move on to the rest of the dish. After all we moms are master multi-taskers! Cut up the green onions and press or mince the garlic.
Then combine the green onions, garlic, chicken, peas, sour cream, cheese and prepared KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese into a bowl and stir until well blended. You will also want to make sure you rinse off the frozen petite peas before combining to ensure there are no frost crystals.
Pour it all into a baking dish and ensure it is evenly distributed.
Now prepare the topping by combining crushed cheese flavored crackers with butter.
You definitely don’t want to skimp on the topping! It gives the dish such a fun texture.
Bake for 30 minutes and then you will end up with a delicious complete family dinner that everyone will love!
My kids would gobble that right up! It’s JUST the kind of meal they like.
This sounds delicious! One of my favorite things to do is add ingredients to mac & cheese. Yum!
One of my favorite things to do is mix ingredients into mac & cheese. I love to put things like protein in it. Tomatoes are nice, too.
Honestly the only extra ingredient I have ever added to a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is sliced American Cheese to thicken it up. Your recipe sounds yummy!
What a quick, easy meal. The crushed cheesy crackers on the top is a great idea!
Now this is my kind of mac n cheese!

I practically live for casseroles. Especially during the busy summer months! This one sounds awesome!
We’re the same when it comes to casseroles. This is one of our favs.
This Is one of our stable meals! My kids love it. I use broccoli instead of peas though.
We make casseroles with Kraft Mac and Cheese too. We have done tuna and chicken with veggies. Love the recipe. The dish looks super yummy.

I don’t like peas but you’ve inspired me to adapt this recipe into a green bean casserole- I bet that would be delicious! I’m an adult and I still eat Kraft Macaroni and Cheese every week ๐
Green beans would be awesome in this recipe! We’ve done Broccoli too. But I have picky eaters and for us peas are the safest veggie to get them ALL to eat. lol. But one loves it with broccoli and the husband loves it with green beans.
My daughter would absolutely love this. She totally loves macaroni and cheese.
At my house that’s dinner for everyone! We usually add some Latino spice into it as well!

WOW – this is pretty quick and will keep everyone happy – I absolutely have to try it!
Just made this tonight with a few changes! We did carrots and peas, and did Turkey instead of Chicken (frozen leftovers from Thanksgiving) . Turned out great and kids loved it. My husband even ate it and loved it! (Surprising since he does not like turkey!) Definitely adding to my cookbook of loved recipes to our house!
Wonderful recipe! Huge hit tonight!! We have way too much mac n’ cheese left over from the pandemic and this will definitely help us use it up.
Can you make ahead and freeze to cook later?
Yes. Mac and cheese can be frozen for up to three months. The creamier the mac and cheese sauce is, the better it will be for freezing. you can cook the macaroni and cheese, put the casserole together and then freeze it for later. Thaw in the refrigerator before baking.
Looking forward to testing your recipe. I like to prepare mini casseroles in in mini tin foil baking pot pie pans for me & a single senior friend. Could I prep & fill the little pans & freeze to cook at a later date?
I haven’t tried freezing this before. But I would think it should be alright. I have success freezing a different chicken noodle casserole and it reheats well. So I would image this one would as well since it is just noodles, chicken and veggies. Let me know how it turns out!
