This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro Gro-ables for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Do you garden? Do you have kids? Have you tried to do both together? It is an adventure let me tell you! But gardening with kids doesn’t have to be hard! It doesn’t have to be complicated! Miracle-Gro Gro-ables makes it super easy! Let me show you how!
Gardening with Kids Made Easy
I have caught the gardening bug. This is the first summer in our first owned home where I am not sick and can garden (knock on wood)! So I am sort of going nuts with it. But I want the kids to find enjoyment in gardening too. So we put together a fun vegetable garden in a pot for each kid. And it couldn’t be any easier!
Supplies:
- Garden pot – we got 14″ but bigger may be better depending on the plant you are planting
- Miracle-Gro potting mix
- Miracle-Gro Gro-ables (in the vegetable, herb or fruit of your choice)
- water
Ok, I’m telling you it is super easy and I wasn’t lying! First make sure your pots have drain holes. You need to make sure they can drain out any excess water that the plants don’t need. Otherwise the roots may rot. If your pot doesn’t have drain holes you can easily drill a few in the bottom.
Next fill the pot with Miracle-Gro potting mix. It is already prepped, full of plant food and everything you need for your plants to grow well. Make a small little hole in the middle of the pot and insert the Miracle-Gro Gro-ables in. Only push it down to where the top is flush with the top of the soil. The Miracle-Gro Gro-ables contain everything you need to grow a fruit, herb, or vegetable in a simple seed pod.
Lastly water your little pot! They need to be watered daily, so it is a great opportunity to teach your kids how to be responsible and how to care for their plant.
Really that is all there is to it! I told you it was super easy! Each kid has their own pot. And I set it up on a simple stand in our flowerbed so it can get ample light.
In 1-2 weeks our little Gro-ables will start to sprout. In a few months our plants will be ready for harvest! My kids couldn’t be more excited! They love their own personal little plant.
Can’t you just see your kids having fun planting their own little garden with the Miracle-Gro Gro-ables? They really do make it easy to get kids involved on hand-on learning experiences!
The Gro-ables project encourages kids to enjoy growing herbs and veggies. To join the movement simply pick up your own pack of Gro-ables (each kit comes with 30 Gro-able pods in one variety. You can pick from 4-6 types of fruit/veggie/herb). Then get your kids involved in planting their own little garden!
