My kids absolutely love Easter. I mean what kid doesn’t love Easter? But this year, we have a new baby. What do you do for Baby’s Easter basket? It’s not like you can put candy in their basket. OK, maybe you can, and then let Mommy and Daddy eat it all. But that’s not fun for them. So this year, I was thinking, why not make an Easter Basket that baby can enjoy! And something helpful for Mom and Dad too! Introducing the Huggies Diaper Basket! It’s an Easter Basket made out of Huggies Diapers!
Easy Huggies Diaper Basket
So what exactly is a diaper basket? Think about a diaper cake that most people give at baby showers. It’s like that only designed more to be a basket. In honor of Easter! This Diaper basket is perfect for Easter or for baby’s birthday, first time mom gifts, or for a baby shower. And they aren’t hard to make at all!
Supplies:
- Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers (I used about 21 diapers for this cake)
- Rubber bands
- Foam Wreath 12″
- Decorative flowers (optional)
- Cake base (or cardboard cut in circle your choice) – I personally like the shiny silver ones, because it reflects. 😉
- Decorative Ribbon
- 2 small Dowels
- Diaper wipes
- Diaper Rash Cream
- Cute Stuffed Animal
- Your choice of baby Essentials
When you pick the Huggies Snug & Dry diapers pick size 2 or 3, they tend to be best for the diaper basket size. Plus it’s great for Mom, because most babies don’t spend very long in newborn, or size 1 diapers. And they will most likely get a lot of those sizes at the baby shower. Size 2 and 3 are sizes that baby tends to stay in longer and therefore baby’s Mom and dad will appreciate getting the larger sizes the most.
Step 1: Start by taking a diaper and rolling it up from the base up to the top of the diaper where the waist is located. Secure with a rubber band. Make enough to line the entire perimeter of the cake base
Step 2: Line up 3 rolled diapers on the base and secure together with a rubber band. Keep lining up diapers in groups of 3 and securing the 3 with a rubber band.
Step 3: Once all the diapers are collected by 3, use another rubber band to connect the outside diaper of each group to the grouping next to it. This will ensure all the diapers are connected to form a circle.
Step 4: Cut the Wreath in half. Wrap half of the wreath in ribbon to hide the wreath color. Secure with hot glue or straight pins. This will become the handle. (Note Do NOT carry the diaper basket by handle, it is for looks only. If you lift by the handle it will come off.)
If you use sheer ribbon like me, you will need to wrap multiple times to cover the wreath.
Step 5: Use a small dowel and insert it into the center of one side of the wreath. Insert the 2nd dowel in the other end of the wreath.
Step 6: Insert the dowels into the center of a diaper. And insert the other dowel into the center of a diaper on the opposite side of the cake.
Now push down gently until the dowel disappears into the diaper.
Step 7: Use your choice of ribbon to wrap around the diapers. Make sure to hide the rubber bands with the ribbon as you decorate. Again if you are using sheer ribbon, you will want to wrap multiple times.
Step 8: Fill the inside with your choice of paper or decorative fluff (crinkle paper, Easter grass, etc) Or you can add a cute blanket. Or if you have enough fillers, you can even skip this step.
Step 9: The fun part, add in all the baby essentials into the inside of the diaper basket! Ideas include
- Huggies Wipes
- Diaper rash Cream
- Cute Stuffed Animal (or 2)
- Onsies
- bottles
- pacifiers
- teether
- baby rings
- socks
- small blanket
- baby food
- feeding utensils
- Hair bows (if girl) or Baby tie (if boy). I attached the hair bow to the bunny with small pins to make it look cute.
- etc
Step 10: Embellish. Lastly, you can add decorations to the basket like sprigs of Spring flowers.
Or a fun flower/leaf garland wrapped around the base.
Now you have the perfect Diaper basket for baby’s first Easter or a baby shower! Aren’t they the cutest thing ever?

What a fun idea.! I would put a book in their too because our kids liked to look at books when we changed them., of course older than the newborn stage though. Kroger's... wish there was one closer to us, we always go there when we visit my sister and I love their store!
