Fun Toddler Development craft Activity, Tutorial, and Linky!
We participate in our Communities Parents as Teachers program; where once a month a Trained adviser comes in to our home and we talk about how our Child is developing and they give the parents Activity Ideas on how to help our child improve and learn new skills. It has been quite helpful for Jade and myself.
This month we learned a new Activity that focuses on Gross Motor skills; and it was such a Hit with Jade that I just HAD to share it with you all!
Supplies:
- 1 Balloon
- String or Yarn
- Tape
- 2 Tongue Depressors
- paper plate
First you Blow up the balloon and tie one end of the string onto the Balloon. You will be hanging the balloon from the Ceiling at a good height for the child to reach, about their head height. Measure the height and tape to the Ceiling.
Next you will construct the “paddle”. Tape the two tongue Depressors together at the ends (slightly overlapping each other) and then tape one end to the back of a paper plate. You now have the Paddle.
Now you show your child how to hit the balloon with the paddle! Thanks to the suspension from the ceiling the balloon will always return to your child. And now you can watch as your child is thrilled beyond belief!
