Our Best Grilled Chicken Recipe will be a hit at your table. With an Apple cider Vinegar Marinade, no sugar & no flour, it is Paleo & Bright Line Eating friendly.
One of my New Years resolutions, as I’m sure it was for many of you, was to improve my health. One of the key ways to do that is by eating better. I have been experimenting in the kitchen and using some references to find new healthy ways to cook the same old foods I loved, but minus the butter, fat, processed flour, and high quantities of sugar!
One of these experiments turned out so well, I just had to share with you! The family loves it, the kids love it, our extended family we invited over for dinner loved it, and our best friends we invite over for a BBQ every few months loved it! It’s a hit! And it is so easy!
And don’t worry, if you don’t have a grill, you can still bake it in the oven, but I highly recommend the grilling, as it always makes everything taste better!

Best Grilled chicken Recipe Tips
When I’m cooking chicken breasts, I cut my chicken up, because it cuts down on the cooking time which also helps keep the chicken moist instead of drying out. But when I’m cooking up chicken legs and drumsticks, I simply watch the grill closely and turn frequently to prevent it from burning on any side.
This recipe can also be made with Chicken Drumsticks, Chicken legs, boneless skinless Chicken breasts, Chicken tenderloins and even frozen Chicken!
Just marinate the frozen chicken breasts/tenderloins and then cook as directed. If using tenderloins, the cooking time will be less, due to smaller pieces of chicken, approx 20-25 minutes.
Save Money on the Best Grilled Chicken Recipe
I use my Zaycon Chicken whenever I have any in my freezer. It’s the best quality chicken, farm fresh and they never use growth hormones on the chicken. Yet the chicken breasts are the best we’ve ever used.
Have you heard of Zaycon foods before? If not, you are in for a real treat! You better clear your freezer, because once you learn about them you are going to want to stock up!
Zaycon Foods is on a simple mission to bring farm fresh meats direct to consumers at wholesale prices. Think Bountiful Baskets, but for meat! And their deals are different every week. They have special events multiple times a year. Each one is listed on their site.
You sign up for a Zaycon Foods account (through my easy referral link) and then browse when the events are coming to your area. You place your purchase ahead of time (orders for meat are done in bulk. And while this may seem a bit much, your wallet will be thanking you later as you will save a lot more this way.)
Then on the day of the event, show up at the location of your order. They hand deliver the boxes into your car for you. You don’t even have to get out! Then drive it home and process the chicken.
I often get 2 orders of chicken. I Freeze chicken with one order and can chicken with the other order.
Then when it is time for dinner, I go shopping in my own freezer! Pull out my Zaycon chicken and I’m all set to make dinner in under an hour. And as I said before, You can even use frozen chicken with this recipe!
More Tips for the best grilled chicken recipe
You may be wondering why I didn’t include measurements in my recipe. Simple…I don’t have measurements. This is one of those “just throw it in” grilled chicken recipes. I pour in the enough Apple Cider Vinegar to cover half to 3/4 of the chicken. Then dash in the Mrs. Dash Onion and Herb seasoning. Enough to give the top layer a good dusting. Then do the same with the Sea Salt/Pickling salt and pepper. See, no measurements. Just eyeball it.
Oven Method: If you don’t have a grill, this recipe can still be created in the oven. Place the chicken in a Glass 9X13 Dish, do not spray with any oils, cooking spray, etc. Place it into a preheated oven at 425 degrees F. Then cook for 30-45 minutes or until the center is cooked through. Check at about 30 minutes by cutting open the thickest piece of chicken to check the center.
Enjoy with your choice of healthy Side dishes! We love adding a side salad, quinoa, wild rice, or sometimes even Homemade Gourmet French Fries when we feel like not eating healthy.
You can even cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and use to make the most amazing Chicken Ceasar Salad! Or any kind of salad really, it is amazing as a salad topping.
