Basil Lime Homemade Body Scrub Recipe

One of the most refreshing ways to liven up your skin is with a great body scrub! If you use the right kind it can awaken your senses and invigorate you! Or try another scent and it will calm you and relax you after a long day.

The great thing about a body scrub with natural ingredients like salt and sugar is that it not only exfoliates your skin, it polishes it, leaving it amazingly soft and smooth!

But on top of all that it also opens up your pours so your body can detox itself of toxins and prevent against infections! Who knew such a luxurious beauty regime would have such a huge impact on our health as well?

But lets face it; not all of us can afford multiple weekly trips to the spa or massage therapy to get a quality body scrub. And frankly purchasing them at mass retail stores isn’t very cost effective either. Not to mention most store purchased body scrubs contain all kinds of parabens and other things you don’t want to be absorbing through your skin.

So what is a person to do who has a love of body scrubs and just wants to have their skin amazingly smooth and luxurious after their shower or bath? Easy, we make our own!

Once you make your first homemade body scrub you will be converted! And then you will be hooked and have to branch out and try a lot of different scents and varieties! So to get you started, lets try out this amazing Basil Lime sugar scrub!

It only requires 4 ingredients, and just a little time!

Basil Lime Homemade Body Scrub Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 C white sugar
  • 5-6 medium basil leaves, chopped into small pieces
  • Zest and juice of ½ of a lime
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

 

Directions:

Add all ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk together until combined. To release more of the basil’s fragrance, use the back of a spoon to mash the basil into the side of the bowl. This will break it down into even smaller pieces.

Put into a cute glass jar and attach a cute label with a piece of twine or something similar.

To use:  Using gentle pressure, roll granules over skin. Concentrate on rough areas like elbows and knees. If you use it on your face, be extra gentle and avoid eyes.

Like I said, super simple! And it will leave your skin feeling amazing! And can’t you just smell it right now? Hmmm, amazing!
