Utah’s Hogle Zoo Family Destination Visit Salt Lake City
This Family Travel-themed post sponsored by Visit Salt Lake City travel bureau, where we received free a Connect Pass for entrance, but all thoughts are my own.
We don’t often get to get away on a family vacation very often, due to the Husband being in school full time as an engineer. But every year we always try to get away for a few days and have a mini family vacation. This year, since the Husband was doing an internship in Utah, we stole him away from work for a few days and we visited various places around Salt Lake City. Including our favorite Zoo within a days drive; the Hogle Zoo!
Hogle Zoo Family Attraction
The Hogle Zoo seems to always have something fun happening! Each year they have a new theme throughout the zoo. And you can find great educational stands all over the zoo. One year it was all about dinosaurs. They had a fossil digging site even! This year it was all about Legos! They had these amazing displays of the animals with some fun facts, and also all made out of Legos! Aren’t they just amazing?
And some of them you could even interact with! Talk about making kids happy!
Every time we visit the Hogle Zoo we always make sure we can take in the free shows! They are always so entertaining! One is the adorable Elephant show! They have a baby elephant that participates and just melts your heart. Ok, so this sweet elephant is now more like a toddler as she is a few years old. But still a favorite for everyone to visit!
And they had plenty of “photo” opportunity stations all over the zoo!
And we always stop everything to make sure we make it to the Bird show! This was the highlight of the entire zoo! The husband kept talking about it for days after our visit. It was educational, but quite entertaining! They had a lot of amazing birds that would literally fly right over your head! I personally felt the feathers of a hawk and owl as they flew over my head. Oh it was so amazing! And it had the kids in complete awe! Not to mention quite a bit of humor!
This year they even have a brand new playground for the kids! When it is time for dinner, they have great dining options and gift shops. But the kids simply adored the water park! It is a great distraction as it does get quite hot in Salt Lake City in the summer!
We visit the Hogle Zoo every summer, and we still have not tired of visiting. They offer something new each year to help keep it entertaining. And don’t worry that it is out of tourist season. The Hogle zoo still keeps everything entertaining. In the winter they are known for their amazing Light exhibits. My sisters (who live in Utah) go each year and I’m always jealous of their visit, because we never get down there in the winter months. But you visit the zoo after dark and all of the lights look just like the animal they are showcasing! It is quite beautiful!
And coming soon is the BOO at the zoo! They encourage kids to come in their costumes and can trick or treat at 20 different candy booths throughout the zoo! Also Military Appreciation Day in November!
To learn more be sure to visit Hogle Zoo website for hours, ticket information and more. Also find them on Facebook .

it looks like so much fun there and such a great family trip. I need to remember this if we visit Utah!
Oh look at that polar bear. I just want to kiss his little face.
That looks like an amazing zoo! I love the water park and the animals made out of legos. Definitely seems like a great trip on vacation.
Visiting the zoo is one of my favorite family outings. It looks like you have a fabulous zoo there in Utah!
This zoo looks so awesome. If we are ever in your neck of the woods, we’ll have to check it out.
Soooo jealous! We have such a small zoo and much of it is closed for renovations.
That looks like a GREAT zoo! We have several smaller zoos near us and we have memberships at two of them. One of the zoos we have a membership at is doing Boo at the Zoo this weekend and if the weather holds up, we plan on going.
I love this zoo. I have to travel out to Salt Lake City several times a year and when I take my kids we like to go there. We like the Polar bears the best!
Wonderful!! I love taking my kids to our local zoo, and when we travel we try to make sure to visit the local zoo in our vacationing city! I’ll have to add Utah to our list 🙂
Love how you can interact with all the zoo exhibits. Great way to better understand nature.
Great photos! I haven’t made it to SLC yet but it’s on my list! I will have to visit the zoo for sure!
I have not had the opportunity to visit that zoo. I would love to though if we ever get out that way. Its great you had family time as that is so important.

Great photos! I love the zoo. I used to live in San Diego and they have an amazing zoo. Now I don’t have a zoo close by.
I live in NY and have never been to Utah. As I looked through your great post with really nice pics I was wondering why I never thought of a zoo in Utah! Well-if I ever get there I will surely visit this zoo!!
I love zoos. We meant to go to the St. Louis Zoo this summer and didnt get a chance to.
What a very fun filled zoo! I love animals 🙂
Love that they have a Halloween program. How fun! I love the elephant. Would love to go here with my family!
I love going to a zoo and I think my very favorite is the elephants. I used to like the monkeys, but one time they were throwing poop at people. No more of me liking monkeys.
I moved from outside Park City in 1999 and we always loved visiting the Hogle Zoo. My kids would love the lego animals!
Wow, and I thought our zoo was awesome! I mean.. it is.. but that looks great! I love the LEGOs and the elephants – two of my biggest obsessions!
I have never been there, but I am a HUGE polar bear fan. Love, love, love them! I want that Lego polar bear for my very own. You can make that happen, right?
I also want to see the baby elephant show. Cute!
What a really nice zoo.I love the lego parts. My youngest son was a lego-maniac when he was growing up. he still likes them 🙂

Their zoo looks like a lot of fun with all those animals to see. Much better than the one we have here. Actually I think any zoo might be better than the one we have here. 🙂
I love the lego sculptures. We had some similar exhibits here in the Bronx Zoo in New York City. I love how families can spend quality time at the zoo.
cute places and a nice place for families. i hope the animals are treated well!
I have never been to this zoo but it looks amazing and so much family fun. I love the giraffes when I go. And the polar bears. I can sit and watch them for hours.
Oh my gosh, those LEGO displays are amazing! You took some wonderful pictures! One of my goals/dreams in life is to visit every state capital zoo! 🙂
Oh I just love all the birds! I would be in heaven!
What a fun Zoo.. and how did you know that Elephants are my favorites….?? I loved the pictures, totally drooling over them… Looks like you guys had a wonderful family day…
I love the zoo. I think my favorite are the Tigers and monkeys. I have always loved Tigers so seeing them in the zoo is always a favorite of mine.
I’ve been to a ton of zoos but I’ve never visited this one. Zoos are something we also do when we go on a vacation or something. I like seeing all the different ones throughout the US.
Wow, those are some amazing displays… what a fun family attraction.
