Our family puts an emphasis on family meal time. We don’t always have the luxury to have breakfast or lunch together. But we always make sure the family gathers for dinner. We know the importance of family dinner traditions and eating together as a family to help build memories, boost kid’s confidence and help encourage them to withstand outside forces that would encourage them to get into trouble or do drugs. And part of what brings the magic in mealtime is when we have the kids help us cook. And a great dish we love to cook as a family is an easy pasta dish with Ragu® and our easy garlic bread.
Mealtime magic with Easy Parmesan Garlic Bread recipe
For us, we found easily that if we wanted the kids to be excited about family dinner, then they need to be involved. Especially since we have quite a few picky eaters. But when the kids are involved in making family dinner then they are more likely to enjoy the meal.
My mom was my role model in teaching me how to cook. My memories of learning to cook side by side with my mom are some of my most cherished memories now that she has passed on. I will forever treasure those times we spent in the kitchen together. That is something I want to share with my own children. And now my boys are at that same age when I learned to cook, it is time that they begin learning as well.
One of our favorite family dinners that is great for the kids to help cook is an easy pasta dinner. Ragu® is perfect because it takes a meal that can seem elaborate and makes it really easy for me to teach my boys how to cook dinner. So on our last grocery trip to Smith’s (our Local Kroger store), I picked up everything we need to make our mealtime magical with Ragu®!
Begin by simply boiling the noodles. This is an excellent skill that boys need to know because they will use it for so many dishes.
Then drain the noodles and throw them back into the pan and add a bottle of your favorite Ragu® pasta sauce. Heat until warm and your dinner is ready. I mean, it can’t get much easier than that!
We love Ragu® because it offers an assortment of delicious flavors with more than a full serving of veggies in every half-cup of their pasta sauce. This means we can have different flavors each time to please everyone in the house. And I can rest easy knowing the kids are getting some veggies in their diet without them even knowing it! And a family mealtime that lets us build memories. Not to mention how easy it is for the boys to cook it up and build confidence in their own abilities. And learn great skills for when they grow up and live on their own.
When we want to take family dinner to the next level then we throw in this very simple Parmesan garlic bread recipe. And I am telling you it is so simple, your kids will thank you for teaching it to them!
