Healthy Treats for Kids, 12 Healthy Treats your Kids will Love Including Chunks O' Fruti Natural Frozen Fruit Bars #FreshNFruti
Like any mom, I only want the best for my kids. Now I’m not a complete crunchy mom. I like my natural, organic products. But I also know how fun it can be to have treats. I’m not a sugar Nazi. But I do try to limit the sugar intake. We strive for a good balance. Now my kids love having treats. In fact they want a treat far more often than I’d like them to have sugar. So in order to keep us all happy, we try to focus on healthy treats for kids. This allows the kids to still feel like they are getting a treat. But mom is feeling happy that they aren’t loading up on sugar, candy and chocolate. They still get regular sugary treats. Just not very often. So for the most part our kids enjoy these 12 healthy treats for kids!
12 Healthy Treats for Kids
Some of our favorite Healthy treats for kids include
- Sliced apples with a natural chocolate peanut butter.
- Homemade fruit smoothies with spinach hidden inside.
- Homemade Fruit Leather
- Homemade Jerky (really, my kids see this as a big treat. Even though it’s not sweet at all).
- Fruit Kabobs with fruit dip
- Fruit salad with yogurt dressing.
- Frozen grape treats
- Frozen bananas rolled in crushed nuts and coconut.
- Homemade kettle corn
- Pistachios. No joke! My kids eat these like candy. I horde them! Ha-ha! So when I let them actually have some, it is a big treat for them.
- Homemade granola with dark chocolate chips. We use Homemade because the store purchased ones usually have a lot more sugar than I use in my homemade recipe. Plus I use Honey and Agave nectar to sweeten my granola. Not sugar. So it is still sweet. But with a natural sweetener.
- Chunks O’ Fruti frozen fruit bars.
The Chunks O’ Fruti Frozen fruit bars are something we just discovered this week. And let me tell you I am loving them! They are made with a FRUIT FIRST FORMULATION. That means that the fruit bars contain more fruit than any other ingredient. It really is the first ingredient on the ingredient panel! And because there is so much fruit, there is no need for added colors or flavors.
And Chunks O’ Fruti doesn’t just use any old fruit. They only use premium fruit ingredients— including freshly frozen fruit or packed fruit pieces that are delivered to the facility shortly after harvesting. And they are all natural! That means there are
- no added colors
- no added flavors
- no High Fructose Corn syrup
- No GMO (they are now NO-GMO verified)
They are found at Sam’s Club, so that means you can get a more economical package for the price. And don’t worry if you see that large box and think “oh that won’t fit in my freezer!” They have four convenient boxes separating each flavor into their own little box. So you can break them up and put them into your freezer wherever you have space. We had a lot of fun on our last trip to Sam’s Club. We went during sample hour. That is always fun! We found a lot of great stuff, including everything I needed for our lunch! Be sure to check out our Google + album to see all the fun we had!
I am loving all the benefits of Chunks O’ Fruti already! They are low in sugar. High fruit quality ingredients. No additives. Perfect healthy treats for kids! Especially compared to our old frozen treats. We used to get regular popsicles. Yeah, what are they? Frozen water, sugar, and additive flavors. Nothing natural about them at all! Plus, you can eat like 5 of them and still not feel satisfied. But with the Fruti frozen fruit bars, you can enjoy one bar and feel satisfied and not have that driving force to keep eating.
So the Fruti frozen fruit bars sound like the perfect healthy treats for kids. But will they make kids happy? Will it feel like a dessert for them? I put them to the test. And my kids had the hardest time picking a flavor. They wanted them all. Eventually each kid picked their own flavor. J. absolutely loved the Strawberries and Cream. T. was over the moon for the Pina Colada! And Jade and I were enjoying the tropics with the Caribbean mix.
Unlike other frozen fruit bars, these actually had real chunks of fruit. They aren’t annoying chunks. Just enough to give it a fun texture. And to let you know the real fruit is in there. The kids actually loved that! They got excited each time they took a bit and found another little piece of real fruit. And the flavor was amazing! It was rich and real. Definitely didn’t taste manufactured. And it was quite delicious.
Each day, they now ask for a new Fruti frozen fruit bar! I think they definitely make the list of healthy treats for kids. Because your kids will love them! I also love that the box also comes with a few recipes if you want to spice it up. You can make smoothies with them, mocktails, and more!
The best part, is they make excellent healthy treats for kids when you have friends over! You don’t want to load up other kids with sugar and send them home! But you want the kids to have a great time. Let them enjoy a Fruti frozen fruit bar. The kid will feel special. And the other mom won’t hate you and ban their kid from your home. Unless that is your plan. Ha-ha. And they make great treats for outside summer parties! Hot day? Grab a Fruti! It’s cold. They are outside so they can’t make a mess in your home. And they are full of flavor.
If you want to give Chunks O’ Fruti a try, be sure to visit Sam’s Club on May 13, 2013! They will be featuring a live demo of the Fruti frozen fruit bars and yogurt during sample hour! I love your list of healthy treats! I am thankful that (so far) Michael will eat anything I set in front of his face, even if it is healthy. So far… 🙂
Oh so jealous Mallery! I have a super picky toddler and two semi picky boys. It is always a struggle to get them to eat healthy foods. So it’s a pretty big deal when I can find a healthy treat they like.
