Garlic oil is one of the most powerful Essential Oils. But it is also one of the least known or understood Essential Oil. Our goal today is to help you know the amazing aid it can offer your home and family. This Garlic Oil Essential Oil article is to help you learn more about Essential Oils and how you can use them to bless your family. It is not to replace any Doctor direction or advice. If you have serious medical conditions please follow your Doctors orders.
It’s no secret that we use Essential Oils. In fact I’m quite crazy about them. Why? Because over the last three years I have personally seen them work miracles. They have kept us out of the ER with Miss Jade’s croup. They have helped clear up pneumonia for Jonathan. They battle my Migraines on a weekly basis so I don’t have to take as much OTC medication. They also helped me recover from Whooping Cough 3 Summers ago when all other prescriptions and $600 later from Dr fees failed.
The wise and knowledgeable use of Essential Oils can truly bless your family! And the great thing is that one single Essential Oil can have hundreds of uses! I’ve already shared 50 uses of Lavender Oil. And that is only scratching the surface! But today I want to share about a little less known oil. The Garlic Oil.
I’m not talking about the garlic oil that you find in the spice section in the grocery store. I’m talking pure Essential Oil quality. This isn’t the same oil you use to flavor foods. It is quite potent and needs to be used with care.
How to use Garlic Oil
Garlic Oil needs to always be highly diluted! While most oils can be distilled in the air for benefit; Garlic oil is not one of them. All that causes is a very potent smell. Garlic oil is best applied to your body.
But this is what you need to remember. Essential oil of garlic is strong and potent and can be very caustic! Just Two drops of garlic essential oil, undiluted, in the ear would burn sufficiently to possibly require medical assistance. So why am I writing about it and claiming it is amazing? Because it truly is if used properly! But you must exercise great caution with it!
It is used for particularly nasty viruses or bacteria because its antimicrobial action is so strong. To achieve the proper dilution; you need 2 drops of garlic essential oils in 1 ounce of carrier oil (shake very well every single time!) Often you will find just using a toothpick dipped in the Garlic oil then added to the regular dose of Carrier Oil in your palm before application is all you need.
Have I had experience with Garlic Oil?
Yes. Recently after moving into our new house; I got a spider bite of some kind. It was on my underarm near my lymph node. The first 2 days it acted like a normal spider bite so I treated it like a normal spider bite. But then it didn’t get better. It got worse. I’m talking swollen 7 times the size, solid bump and extremely painful.
Normally I highly recommend you go to the doctor at this point. But we were new. We didn’t have a doctor yet. And we were still waiting for the Husband’s insurance from his new job to kick in. We thought we would be getting the paperwork any day; so I didn’t want to rush off to the Doctor and pay the full bill if we were to get the insurance the next day.
So I started to use Garlic oil. I created a solution of Garlic oil and a few other purification oils, well diluted in a carrier oil. Then I’d apply it directly to the bite as well as on the soles of the feet. The soles of the feet are the quickest way for your body to absorb oils.
For understanding; look up foot zoning. It is because the sole’s of your feet have the largest pores, and a lot of nerve endings. it is the quickest way for the oil to penetrate through your skin and enter your body.
In less than a week; the bite finally came to a point where the infection was drawn to the surface and was able to be drained. In three more days continuing to use Garlic Oil; the infection was gone and the bite finally began to heal.
Garlic oil isn’t an instant miracle cure. It will take time; but it truly works. So after my experience with Garlic oil I knew others could benefit from what I have learned and I wanted to share why Garlic oil is now one of the first Essential Oils I keep stocked in our first aid kit and Emergency Preparedness supplies.

What a great article. My daughter has been having ear aches for the past few weeks. How many drops of garlic essential oils per ml of carrier oil, please? I've also just read frankincense too and to rub tea tree around the ear, not the lobe, but the face and neck part.

With essential oils, you have to be very careful with children because it is much more potent on a child than an adult. You have to greatly dilute the garlic oil for an adult. it would be even worse for a child.
With kids, I'm rather conservative on the oils. Especially going into the ear. For earaches or infection I prefer to use Butterfly Express's EO and BBL tinctures. They have the benefiting oils but properly diluted to be safe in the tear. It's much easier to use that, then try to get the dilution right myself.

Could I put a drop in a cup of tea and ingest it

No, it would not be good to ingest the Garlic Oil in tea. It is far too potent. Essential oils are highly concentrated chemical constituents that will have an effect on your body that can be very dramatic, and even dangerous when used inappropriately.
Essential oils are extremely concentrated plant material and can be easily overdosed when taken internally. Continuously taking multiple essential oils internally on a daily basis, can be very damaging to the liver, kidneys, stomach, and intestines. Not to mention that the essential oil is going to be rendered virtually useless once it hits the stomach as it goes through the filtering of your digestion, only after possibly irritating, burning or eventually scarring, the mouth, esophagus, throat, etc. The benefits of Essential oils is the oil reaching the correct place of your body, which needs the blood to be the transporter. Which is why applying oils to the bottoms of the feet after being diluted with a carrier oil is one of the most popular and safe methods. It is easily absorbed at a safe rate and transported where it is effective. But by ingesting the oil, it goes through filtering, while irritating your organs from the inside. Thus by the time the oils reach the bloodstream to be transported where the oil is needed, it has lost most of its healing properties and potency.
It is highly advised to never ingest essential oils unless you are under the supervision of a LICENSED & certified aromatherapist who has been trained in the internal use of essential oils.
