Wise Men Seek Him Still Nativity Blocks
I’ve always loved the saying, “Wise men seek Him still,” or still seek Him, however you prefer. 🙂 So I decided to make a Nativity scene depicting the wise men on their journey to find the Christ.
This is a simple craft, and affordable enough that it can be done as a gift for friends.
What you need:
Blocks (I bought mine at the craft store for just a few dollars)
White, Dark Blue and Black Paint
Paint brushes/sponges of different sizes
Modpodge (optional)
Sandpaper (optional)
Start out by sanding your blocks if you’d like. I didn’t, and the grain shows through. I don’t mind it, but if you’d rather have a smooth block, sand it smooth before you begin.
Trace the outline of the desert landscape on the big block.
Then trace the outline of the landscape and wise men on the little block.
Pain the sky dark blue.
You’ll have to get creative when painting around the wise men silhouette.
When the paint is dry, flip it over and paint the landscape black.
Use a smaller brush to paint the wise men.
If it doesn’t look perfect, that’s ok! From a distance, everyone will know exactly what you painted.
When the black paint is dry, take the small brush and paint the star with white paint.
Use a big stroke down, then smaller ones to do the rays. Again, if it’s not perfect, that’s ok! Everyone will know what it is.
Flip your brush around and use the end of the brush to dot little stars in the sky.
Don’t get too much on there or else they look like globs rather than dots/stars. And keep it subtle.
When it’s dry, you can modpodge to seal in the paint. I didn’t, but I might just to see what would happen. 🙂
Voila! You have gorgeous Wise Men Seek Him Still Nativity Blocks to display or gift.
Since these really don’t take long to do, and require just a little bit of drying time, you can use them as a last minute gift.
Any other last minute gift ideas?
