You know how much I love lime, right? Right.
When my husband introduced me to this family gem – and easy lime drink – I was seriously swooning. A sugar syrup base, fresh squeezed lime juice and club soda.
What’s not to love?!
We make the sugar syrup base ahead of time and let it cool. We keep it in a mason jar in the fridge and then just use it as needed.
To make the sugar base, use a 1:1 ratio. One cup sugar to one cup water (or ½ cup to ½ cup, or 2 cups to 2 cups, etc.)
Put water and sugar in a pot on the stove. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar is dissolved and the syrup thickens. This should only take a few minutes.
Let it cool and use it in your Lime Twister.
To assemble a Lime Twister, put ¼ cup sugar base in a cup.
Squeeze half a lime on top.
Fill the rest of the glass with club soda.
Add ice and a slice of lime (my husband puts in the lime half that he just squeezed in) and enjoy!
This is a perfect summer drink. It doesn’t take long to make the sugar base, and it keeps in the fridge for about 2 weeks. Not that it’ll take you that long to use it. Use real limes. You won’t regret it!
I’m not a soda drinker by nature. Occasionally I’ll have a sip, usually when my hubs makes this. But sometimes I add water instead of club soda, and that seems to work just fine. 🙂
What’s your favorite summer drink?
