The is a fantastic recipe to take to family gatherings or potluck meals. It is incredibly easy to mix up and is a hit with all the kids! And little do they know they are actually getting in some protein! They just think it’s a fun dessert.
Though you should hope there aren’t any leftovers because it doesn’t turn out great after the first day. It’s not so fluffy and a little runny as it all separates.
Another important step you need to remember is to thaw the cool whip. I tried making this the other day without realizing my cool whip wasn’t thawed. Yeah, still frozen hard after I dropped it into the mix.
I figured, “oh I’ll just leave it there and let it thaw, then mix it up. Oh, It’ll be fine.”
Yeah, not so much. It turned into a runny soupy mess. It still tasted fine but the texture was completely off and not easy to eat.
To mix it up, try some fun add-ins like Coconut, or maybe mini chocolate chips!
So while this recipe is easy to make, it’s not foolproof. But still definitely worth the try!
Looking GOOD! I think I’d possibly add just a couple of mint sprigs, pr maybe a couple of cherries on top, but yours looks great as is. Pinned & planned. I love cottage cheese!

Looks tasty! I don’t think we would have any leftovers to worry about, my kids would eat it all.
This sounds so good and like something my son would love!
That looks good! I think the addition of coconut on top is a nice twist! My kids would love this.
y husband would just love this because he cannot get enough cottage cheese! The fruit and cool whip make it more appealing to me.
This recipe is super unique and I bet my kids would LOVE it! I think I will test it out for them next week!
I have not had this in years–I love the juicy mandarin oranges in it. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I have never thought of Orange fluff!! I have had the pink fluff before and it is amazing. I am going to have to try this variation.
My Mom made this all the time when I was little. What fun memories this brings back!
This looks great!! Would be perfect this summer for potlucks in the warmer weather to. Love how easy it is to make up.
That looks so good, I never think to add things to my cottage cheese. I bet my youngest would eat it this way.
What a sunny dessert to enjoy in the winter! I love that this uses cottage cheese. It’s a good way to sneak in some protein.
This sounds delicious! I love anything orange flavored and this would definitely be a hit.
What an interesting flavo combination! I love cottage cheese, also whipped cream and oranges. I’ll have to remember to try this.
Cottage cheese and marshmallows. That’s definitely a new one for me – I’m interested in knowing what it tastes like!
Made this recipe in the past, however, when I use crushed pineapple it makes salad runny, I do drain the liquid. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
I’m not sure. I don’t use crushed pineapple. It tends to be much juicier than chunks. That may have something to do with why it would be more runny. I usually just use mandarin oranges and no pineapple at all. And it turns out great.
Do you drain cottage cheese
No, I don’t drain the cottage cheese. The brand I use doesn’t have a lot of excess liquid in it. But you can if you want.
