School is starting in just a week and a half! I’m so nervous for all the changes this is bringing! Along with that, we have a tween who is will be joining after school programs and scouts! We have really put it off for a long time, but I think it is finally time to get an extra phone so he can keep in contact with us, so we know where he is and when he needs us to pick him up!

We want something affordable without contracts, so I went off to check out the Walmart Family Mobile section for the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans!

As busy families, having an affordable phone for kids is becoming a must with all the different schedules. We are a high tech family, but with traditional family values, we like to keep in contact with our kids. If something happened, we’d want our kids to be able to contact us and let us know.

If I’m running late getting home from a doctors appointment or running errands, I want to have the convenience of being able to just call my son and let him know that I’m on my way home and not to worry. You know for those times you get stuck behind the slow moving school bus (that isn’t carrying your kids) and the kids beat you home from school before you can get home from running errands.

We’ve also ran into the issue of not having an extra phone at home when the Husband and I go out for date night. Since we don’t have a landline, that often means the husband or I have to leave our phone at home so we have a means to contact the kids, or the babysitter can contact us.

With the Family Walmart Mobile service, you simply pick a plan, choose a phone, grab a Starter kit and then activate. You can activate there in the store or do it at home. You even get discounts for each additional line you add to your account!

Plus there are some fantastic Parental Controls! Which means I can feel confident sending our new LG G-stylo to school with our tween. Knowing I can limit his usage, and track what he is doing to ensure he uses it properly and not during class time when he needs to be paying attention to the teacher!

Having an extra phone around that my kids can use gives me peace of mind that they are just a phone call away (or text most likely). If there is a family emergency, we can easily contact each other. If we need to pick a child up early from school or an after school activity, it is now easier to text each other.

And not to mention the fact that this new baby is coming close to making it’s debut! Having an extra phone with my kids gives me peace of mind to know that if I go into labor and we need to contact the kids to let them know they need to go to a neighbors house after school, we can now do that!
