I was given a free one month subscription to Weight Watchers to try their new Simple Start plan and write about my experience.Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, all views, positive and negative, are my own.
Welcome to the New Year! How many of you have weight loss as one of your New Years Resolutions? Well, not me. Don’t get me wrong. I want to lose weight. But that’s not making my New Years Resolution list this year. What is; however, is a healthier me!
I want to have more energy. I want to not be out of breath when I chase my toddler around the yard after just a few short minutes. I want to have clearer skin and more radiant glow about myself. And I know that all stems from what I put into my body. IE; food.
Using Weight Watchers Simple Start to reach my New Years Resolution
As I resolve to make healthier food choices (my New Years Resolution) then I will achieve the secondary goals and achievements such as weight loss, getting into that awesome dress my Husband bought me for my birthday last year that was just a tad too tight, and having more energy to spend with my kids.
But having a goal is worthless without a game plan. For January; my game plan includes the new Weight Watchers Simple Start app program. And it is awesome! It is a simple way to help me focus on making healthier food choices. But it takes out a lot of the hard work of trying to figure out how much of what food you can have each day.
I’ve tried other methods of losing weight including
- measuring food
- counting calories
- cutting out all sugar
- cutting out all grains
- cutting out all meats
- (yeah the last three methods didn’t go over so well- major binges afterwards)
- Skipping meals (see we all know this is wrong… but sometimes when you are young and
stupidnaive you still try silly things.) - Exercising for LONG periods of the day and limiting calories to the extreme (yes this was long before all the kids showed up…there is no way this works for my life schedule now)
You know; all that jazz just isn’t for me. I can do it. And I have success. But I can’t stick with it long term. And that is what I’m looking for. A long term healthy eating lifestyle change.
The Weight Watchers Simple Start is going to give me a great jump start to my long term healthy eating lifestyle. It doesn’t require me to count calories, or measure every ounce of my food. It gives me great ideas and recipes for some amazing meals! That has been a big obstacle for me. To have long term success; the food actually has to taste good so I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself. Let me tell you these recipes have me drooling!
Just to name a few, Yogurt Sundae, Loaded Baked Potato with Vegetable Soup and Chicken Parmesan! Oh my!
We just did our grocery shopping and I am making the Chicken Parmesan very soon! So when I check in next week I will be able to tell you all about it! I can’t wait.
There are a lot of great recipe ideas from the Start Simple app! Two weeks worth of great food choices. And it is all about making healthier food choices. Not focusing on calories or counting each ounce. I love that.
The Weight Watchers Simple Start app is Free to download from itunes. You simply log in with your Weight Watchers ID and password and you are good to go!
What are your New Years Health resolutions?
Do you have questions about the Weight Watchers Start Simple App?
I may be able to answer them when I check in next week. 🙂

We're really liking the recipes so far; we made the chicken with couscous last night, and it was delicious! I know what you mean about wanting to be healthy and not be out of breath.... just sledding with my kids felt like a workout because I'm so out of shape. You can do this!

I signed up for the plan! I am amazed at all the great food I can choose. Sometimes it almost seems like TOO MUCH! Loving that I can still have my glass of wine before BED!

Amber, the Chicken Parmesan is on our radar too, looks yummy. Have you tried the Breakfast Pizza yet? My absolute favorite so far. So good! I think it's going to be a great 2014.... I really do!
