The Christmas Dress Tradition for Family Portraits

Every year for Christmas my mom was amazing and secured my sister and I a new dress. Sometimes she would buy the dress, but most of the time she put her amazing seamstress skills to work and she would sew us a new Christmas Dress. I looked forward to this Christmas Dress Tradition every year.

Thankfully Chasing Fireflies helped us secure our Holiday fashion for the kids this year to carry on the Christmas Dress Tradition. From Boys all Dressed up to Girls all Dressed up. They have the perfect Look to help you carry on your Holiday look!

Carrying on the Christmas Dress Tradition

After I got married, I carried on that tradition and got myself a new dress every Christmas. But then I had kids. I wanted to carry on the tradition with my kids too. But I had a boy.

And then I had another boy.

For years I didn’t have a little girl to spoil with a new Christmas Dress. But I didn’t want to exclude my little boys from this tradition.

So starting from when J was a baby, I began getting the boys a new Christmas Suit every year.

Which worked out great because every Christmas they had grown out of the suit from the previous year and needed a new one anyway. So the Christmas Dress Tradition carried on in our family. Only with getting each boy a new suit for Christmas.

Sometimes if they didn’t need a new suit, I’d secure them a new tie that they loved.

Or new church shoes if they needed them.

But always it was something that would match the experience of the Christmas Dress tradition. Dress up clothes. Something nice that they could wear to church.

Then about 7 years later I finally got a little girl to carry on the actual Christmas Dress Tradition!

And let me tell you I have loved having a little girl to dress up for Christmas.

And Miss Jade absolutely loves getting a new Christmas Dress every year!

It’s always something frilly, and festive for the holiday.

She gets new leggings or tights, and a dress that fits her princess personality perfectly.

And we can’t forget the white Shrug to complete the holiday outfit.

To finish off her look she always gets a headband or hair bow to compliment.

And now this year we have another little girl to help carry on the Christmas Dress Tradition!

Having miss Rose has been such a blessing to our little family. She brings a light and beauty to our family we didn’t even realize we were missing.

But now that she is here we can’t imagine life without her beautiful spirit.

She is absolutely adored by her brothers. They spoil her rotten. But there is a very special bond between Miss Jade and little Rose that is only achievable by loving sisters.

Little Rose is now 3 months old and it was high time I got a picture with all 4 of our kids together! So I turned to Chasing Fireflies for the beautiful holiday outfits this year. I adore the clothing from Chasing Fireflies. They always have such beautiful Holiday dresses and dashing Suits for boys. And the accessories are stunning.

And for once, I found a 3 month Holiday dress that actually fits my 3 month old daughter! And the dress is just stunningly beautiful!

Not to mention Little Rose had so many compliments on her dress when we took her to church. It was just perfect for our Holiday portraits.

Now our little photos of the kids together didn’t turn out quite like I had envisioned.

The 2 girls would not hold still (I have about 50 shots where at least one of them are blurry) and we’ve had a cloudy day all month long so the lighting caused some troubles too. These are about the best I could hope for.

But I am quite happy to finally have photos of all 4 kids together carrying on the Christmas Dress Tradition that started with my Mom. Since my Mom passed away, this is a way that I can feel closer to her this time of year.
