*This post was made possible by Hasbro Games in honor of Star Wars Day. Thoughts are my own. I received an Angry Birds Star Wars battle game for review purposes.
Happy Star Wars Day! It is May 4th! Get it? May the Forth Be With You!
Yes. I am a geek. You should know my entire family are geeks. We love Star Wars! We have all the movies, cartoons included. To say that my boys and husband are obsessed would be a slight UNDER exaggeration. And they have been like this ever since they were toddlers! The Husband included. So obviously when Star Wars Day comes along, we celebrate. Seriously. So here are some fun things to do to celebrate for Star Wars Day! It will help you celebrate May 4th in style.
Celebrating Star Wars Day
Movie Marathon! Yes. How can you celebrate Star Wars day and not watch the movies? We may dabble a bit on the Clone Wars Cartoons on Cartoon Network. But mostly We will focus on the Star Wars original trilogy. I mean, those are the best ones of all time. Episode 4, 5, and 6 are our favorite. Nothing beats the dialogue. They didn’t have fancy graphics to make the scenes look cool. They had to rely on good dialogue and humor to make the movie a hit. And they still remain the favorites of everyone in the family. Even our boys who are only 8 and 9 years old love the originals.
Enjoy Star Wars Decor. When I’m feeling ambitious we pull out the Star Wars Decor. You can find all kinds of great stuff on party planning sites. Or even at Walmart. The kids love getting the house decorated for Star Wars Day. Banners, plates, balloons and even fun grab bags!
Dress up! Yes. We really do dress up. Jade has since outgrown her Yoda costume, so she and I won’t be dressing up this year. But both boys and the Husband both have their Jedi Costumes that still fit.
Star Wars Day Food! Get a cake and decorate it! Or you can even get a cake from your local bakery. They have them. They are quite fun too. They are usually considered birthday cakes, but really who cares! Cake is cake! And Star Wars is Star Wars! I made T’s 7th birthday Star Wars Hoth Cake (seen below). It was a lot of fun. So you could do something simple like this too and be the hit of the town!
Or if you have someone creative they can make a fun R2D2 Cake. The Husband made this one for J’s 8th birthday years ago.
Star Wars Day Craft. Ok, so I created this fun craft for fun Star Wars Halloween Trick or Treating. But it is also perfect for Star Wars Day! Make Smarties Light Saber Treats! It is super easy to make. I even provide the easy print out. All free. You just need to print it out, tape, scissors, colored napkins and Smarties. The kids love making these. And they are even more fun to show off and eat!
Light-saber Battles. No I’m not kidding. These happen every Saturday at our house. Whether it is Star Wars Day or not. But it makes it extra special on Star Wars Day. The boys have their toy light-sabers Actually they have quite a few of them. From light up sabers, sound sabers, and even foam Light-sabers their dad has made for them. They have them all. And they love to battle!
Angry Birds Star Wars! The newest love in our family is Angry Birds Star Wars. Perfect blend of two obsessions of the kids. They love Angry birds. They love Star Wars. How can you go wrong combining the two! We will probably do some playing of Angry Birds Star Wars on the iPad and Nexus this Day. But even better is playing the AT-AT Attack Battle Game from Hasbro. You can Stack, launch, and destroy with the Angry Birds Star Wars AT-AT ATTACK BATTLE GAME, which includes 21 blocks to create the signature AT-AT, a LIGHTSABER LAUNCHER and 12 ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS figures — including two that are exclusive to this set! Players can also unlock ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS in-app content with a special code in each pack. You can learn more about Hasbro’s Games at Hasbro Game Night.
My boys have been begging for this game for months! And I keep putting them off. But hey! What better time to spoil them with Angry Birds Star Wars than on Star Wars Day! It will be getting a lot of play. I just know they will go nuts over this game. Because literally, every time we see it in the store they turn into little beggars who don’t know when to stop.
Hasbro also has other Angry Birds Star Wars toys! Such as the Foam Fliers. They are each sold separately But you can collect them all and head to the backyard for some Angry Bird Star Wars battle with throwing these around at each other. Dodging and catching. It is a lot of fun!
