How to Improve your sleep to sleep like a baby

There are 5 simple things you can do that should quickly improve the quality of your night so soon you can sleep like a baby. You can find Sleeping Tips of all kinds. But when you have these 5 in place you should see an immediate improvement.

Limit Electronics Before Bed. Studies have shown that playing on electronics like TV, video Games, phones, tablets, handheld devices, etc all lead to brain stimulus and therefore hinders a good nights rest.

You should put all electronics away at least 30 minutes before trying to fall asleep. Instead this is a great time to read a favorite novel or meditate or write in journal to help unwind the mind, clear it of the daily clutter and be calm and ready to go to bed.

Limit Liquids Before Bed while it is true that we need to be properly hydrated, you shouldn’t be trying to get in your days worth of liquid right before you head to bed! Try to limit liquids 1 hour prior to going to bed to prevent nighttime wakings.

Fix the Lighting.  Our body’s naturally react to light. When it is light our bodies don’t sleep as deeply or peacefully as when it is pitch dark. That is why it is important to make sure your room has lighting options that are optimal for sleep.

Before going to bed, you should use low light lamps or specially designed to help your body naturally adjust and prepare for sleep.

Also you should make sure all window coverings block outside light from disturbing your rest. Blackout curtains are a great option for this.

Establish the Sleeping Environment. What I mean by this is to make sure your room is a room for sleeping. Get rid of distractions. You don’t need a big screen TV in the bedroom

*Ducks to hid from thrown objects*.

It may not be popular but it is true! Studies show that those who have a TV in the bedroom have more sleep problems.

You will want to keep your room clean.

*Points Finger at myself. I’m Horrible at this one!*

But it’s also shown that if you have a clean environment you are more apt to be calm, relaxed and can sleep better versus in a cluttered room.

Keep your room cool. Most people sleep best in a slightly cool room. So opt to have your room a little cooler at night.

That’s one reason why I love having my portable AC unit in my bedroom. I can keep just my room slightly cooler at night without having to skyrocket my electricity bill trying to cool down the entire house at night.

The Right Bedding. Obviously if you want to sleep like a baby you need good bedding right? Just like it was mentioned before you need to be aware of how hot the bedding is. You don’t want to be sleeping under 20 blankets in the middle of the summer am I right?

Use common sense to pick lighter blankets for Summer and warmer for winter. Select quality pillows.

Studies show that lighter colors tend to give a more peaceful rest. But really pick a color that makes you comfortable in your room. That is really what is important.

But even when trying to use common sense sometimes you just end up with a dud. Like the last time I tried to buy 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. They were very thick. Heavy. Scratchy. And BOY were they HOT!

Needless to say those did not stay on our bed very long. After that I discovered PeachSkinSheets! And I have found my new favorite sheets! We need to upgrade the entire household to these sheets!
