New PinyPon Play set that helps with Speech development

My Daughter recently just changed speech therapists. One feature I really love is watching how this new therapist interacts with miss Jade. They have about 15 minutes of “work” at the beginning of the session and then the rest of the time is “play time”. But little does Jade know that the entire session they are working on her speech! During “play time” they pull out play sets and do imagination play. Encouraging Jade to interact with the therapist and talk out the story and actions.

I have seen such a big improvement in Jade’s speech in just these few short weeks. So I knew I wanted to bring the same interaction home with me. Lucky for me; that is also the same day I got an email asking if I wanted to check out the newest Pinypon play set! Oh my goodness, YES! I love Pinypon! Remember right before Christmas we got the PinyPon Weekend Getaway Hotel. And Jade is absolutely crazy about it. I have wanted to add onto that play set for a while. So I’m thrilled to get the new Pinypon AquaPark Adventure!

The AquaPark Adventure Pinypon play set is a bit smaller than the Hotel we already have. And it was actually a lot easier to put together. Thankfully I already knew about Pinypon so I knew to put the stickers onto the attachments BEFORE putting the entire play set together. It made assembly a lot easier.

Then once I had the stickers all in place it was very quickly assembled. Seriously the stickers took the most time than anything else on the AquaPark adventure play set. Then it was time to let Jade begin playing.

I let her play a while on her own. She is a bit possessive of her new toys. And she has seriously played with this Pinypon play set every day for two weeks. She hasn’t tired of it at all.

Now that she has gotten over the possessive nature of it; I joined in with her. And I mimicked how Jade’s speech therapist plays with her in therapy sessions. I began playing with Jade too. And Jade began to talk more! She has the little characters talking to each other and to me. She started to explain in very simple detail (usually 1-2 words) what her character is doing. Now this may not seem like much to you all; but for Miss Jade and her speed delay it has been an amazing step forward!

Encouraging imagination play is great for therapy. And then incorporating yourself into the play with the child; encouraging speech and explanations furthers that technique even more. The Pinypon Aquapark Adventure play set was just the key to get Jade to sit down and play with me and allow me to encourage her speech development!
