Imagine if you had a medical condition that made your life just a little bit tough. And now imagine that there were certain substances that you couldn’t ingest, otherwise your problem would get a whole lot worse. And unfortunately, those substances are found in candy, cereal, fruit snacks, frosting, pudding, gum and even mouthwash. Just to name a few.
And now imagine that you’re seven years old.
As an adult, it’s hard to stay away from things that aren’t good for us. (But that doesn’t count Girl Scout Cookies. Those are always good for us, right?!) But as a seven year old kid, it’s extremely frustrating to be denied things that “normal” kids have, just because they have dyes in them.
Did I mention that was what we’re avoiding? That’s right. It’s food dyes. So your favorite cereal? You can’t eat that. Your favorite dessert? You can’t eat that either. Birthday cake and Halloween candy? Just forget about it.
Life is really hard for a seven year old kid who can’t be like all the other kids.
It’s not fair. In order to show our support of our son and help him feel not so alone, we try to cut out dyes for the whole family, not just him. Because really, are artificial colors good for any of us? Um, no. No they’re not.
Luckily Tom’s of Maine has all natural products that are safe for the environment and leave me feeling good. Their new line, Made to Matter, has something for the whole family. Their products are not only good for you, but they’re good for the planet.
Let me introduce you to my two favorites.
Tom’s of Maine Luminous White ™ Toothpaste is minty and fresh. That natural stuff packs a punch! It’s gluten and paraben free. I don’t have gluten sensitivities, but I have so many important people in my life that are gluten intolerant. I’m so grateful for companies that make their lives easier!
The Wicked Cool!™ Tom’s of Maine deodorant for girls is the first of it’s kind. There are no parabens, artificial fragrances, and it’s aluminum free. It has a little bit of a different texture than your everyday deoderant, but in my opinion it’s a little smoother. The scent is fruity and fun, yet subtle and not overpowering – which is perfect for younger girls.
There is also a line for men: Men’s Naturally Dry North Woods™ Antiperspirant. I can’t wait to let my hubs try that one.
And one of the best things about this new line of Made to Matter line from Tom’s of Maine is that it’s found exclusively at Target. Yes, I know you love some Target. Who doesn’t?! This is just one more reason to feel good about shopping there.
You’ll find the Made to Matter products right in the toothpaste and deodorant aisles.
So, while my son is still young enough that he doesn’t need deodorant (though those days are quickly approaching!), it gives me a lot of relief to know that when that day does come, I have options. He can be like all the other guys his age and not worry about his deodorant making his life harder.
