I was compensated free product for this blog post. All opinions are my own.
When I was a little girl, one of my Nick Names was razor lips. Why? Because my lips were super thin and when I’d “pucker” they’d get even sharper. Somehow I’ve carried a lip complex with me into adulthood that demands I only wear clear gloss or lip balm so as not to accentuate what I don’t have.
Not too long ago I started hearing about this new product called LipSense. I honestly didn’t think much of it until my sister became a consultant and started selling LipSense. I looked at her pictures every morning on Facebook. She raved about how the color stayed all day. I was skeptical, for sure, but I figured it probably really did stay on longer than the average lipstick.
After a few weeks I realized something: her lips (which are normally very pretty) were all of a sudden plump and healthy and gorgeous!
I had to try it out. I bought a starter kit, which comes with a color, a gloss, and an oops remover. Now listen up: You need all three!
Above are actually TWO colors and a gloss, but you get the point.
LipSense is NOT like a lip stain. Your lips are not stained at all. The unique blend actually molecularly bonds to your lips. It makes your lips supple and flexible. It makes them kissable (since the color won’t come off), and it exfoliates your lips to bring out their best.
As I mentioned before, LipSense color takes three coats of color and one coat of gloss to seal in the color. Here’s a pretty sweet video to show you how it’s done.
Because you need three layers, you can literally mix it up hundreds of ways with just a few color combinations. 3 layers + gloss. 2 + 1 + gloss, 1 + 1 + 1 + gloss… Not to mention there are dozens of different colors of gloss! I haven’t done statistics since college, but it kinda feels like the combinations are endless.
The gloss is the real star in all this. It actually moisturizes to make your lips feel amazing!
It takes a few days to get used to. It can take up to a few weeks if you’re dehydrated. In the meantime, drink plenty of water, and even apply some gloss at night before you go to bed. During the first few days, you’ll want to reach for your chapstick. Don’t do it! Stay away from wax based products. If you need a pick me up, apply some gloss. For reals.
To remove your LipSense, apply the Oops Remover, rub it in (with your finger or a cotton swab), then wipe with a warm paper towel. You can also try oil based make up removers. I’ve used Almond Oil. It takes a little more coaxing to get it all off, but it will do the job.
I’ve gone whole days wearing a striking color, and I only need to touch up the gloss. I’ve eaten meals, kissed my kids (and my husband!), chewed my lips, everything. The only time my LipSense struggles is when I eat oil based foods, like oily pasta or salad dressing. Beware of those foods! If you eat them, just reapply your LipSense and you’re good to go.
