If you love educational video games like I do, you probably are already in the know about the newest gadget to hit the kids educational video game market-the LeapTV from Leapfrog! if you haven’t heard of the LeapTV, oh boy you are in for a treat!
Educational video games with LeapTV
The LeapTV is the coolest new game system for kids that teaches letters, numbers, shapes, colors, math, reading and lots more. All in a fun interactive game! It’s like a combination of all your favorite leapfrog games with that of the entertainment value of the Wii or Xbox w/Kinect!
The LeapTV comes with
- console
- base
- motion-sensing camera
- camera mount
- transforming controller
- HDMI cable
- 1 built in game
And it also includes all the instructions you need to set the game up. It is really quite simple and takes just a few moments. We had ours set up in less than 10 minutes, and that includes having our LeapTV and new account registered online.
For it to work right, you will need an internet connection, so make sure you set up near your internet modem so you can connect via chord, or have wifi access in your home.
The LeapTV also offers a library of 9 cartridge games at launch and 100+ LeapFrog educator-approved games and videos available by year-end, kids never run out of fun! Games adapt to each child’s level-starting with the most basic skills and then automatically adjusting the learning for the perfect challenge. My Mommy Party Kit included: LeapFrog Sports and LeapFrog Dance & Learn
Now we had plans to host a fun party with my kid’s new friends. I figured it would be a fun way to build more friendships since we just moved to our new house and still getting to know people. And then as it always happens, my kids got sick. And no one wants to come to a play date in a house where there are colds.
So instead my daughter had a play date with her brothers. It was a great afternoon to entertain my kids while they were sick enough that they couldn’t go out and play, but feeling well enough that they were bored at home without friends.
So out came the LeapTV and games and we had a fun Mommy Party with the kids.
I loved how it was really easy to navigate each game, in between games, and easy for the kids to follow all the instructions. I love that the games teach about motion, math, shapes, colors, letters and lots more! Yet it kept them entertained! It was easy enough that Miss Jade was able to navigate and play without a lot of prompting or help from her brothers.
Yet it was still fun enough for her brothers to join in and play with her.
What my kids loved was that they were on the screen with the game! Oh they thought seeing themselves and not some animated cartoon was the coolest thing since sliced pie!
They didn’t fully appreciate the idea that they were learning while they played. I think that is something more that Mommy loves. But they had a blast chopping up the Triangles and rectangles in the Karate game.
And they loved climbing the ropes and solving math problems in record time. And they loved being able to play against each other in multi-player. It definitely made taking turns a lot easier.
The LeapTV is full of educational video games that make mom feel great knowing the kids are learning while they play. The LeapTV would also make an amazing Christmas Gift! It is recommended for kids ages 3-8, but even older kids can still have fun with it while playing with their younger siblings.

Thank you for the review. I had briefly considered it but then forgot all about it. I just sent your review to my husband for his approval for Christmas.
