I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for P&G. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. All opinions and reviews are my own.

Changing Our Laundry Products to live Free and Gentle

What is the one task most everyone hates? Well besides the constant washing of dishes it is usually the laundry. It is never ending isn’t it? But still a necessary evil. So why not make your laundry easier? Well for us that means using free and gentle laundry products.

A number years ago we had to give up some of our favorite brands of detergent and other laundry products because we discovered almost everyone in our home has sensitive skin. And the laundry detergents we were using were causing issues. We had to give up fabric softener completely as well. Because it would cause irritation. I’m talking skin rashes, eczema, and itchiness all over the body.

Imagine how sad that could make someone. No more super soft and fluffy clothes coming out of the wash. Now, most everything was a bit stiff. But at least the skin rashes went away.

    Laundry Products affect your Skin

The detergents and fabric softeners we use are often considered a ‘Second Skincare,’ and just as important as the lotions and body washes we use. All because they have such an effect on the clothing we wear that is in constant contact with our skin. And did you know most american’s suffer some sensitive skin? Most of them just reach for new lotions and body creams to aide their ailments. They don’t realize that the problem could be stemmed from their laundry products!

Did you know that 87% of free detergent consumers use scented fabric softener/dryer sheets, which can cause irritation? It’s important that if you are trying to clear up sensitive skin, you need to follow a complete free and gentle regime for your entire laundry products. Not just the detergent, but the fabric softeners as well.

So we have changed out our detergents and gave up fabric softeners completely. But I still missed using Tide because nothing got our clothing as clean. Especially the whites! And I especially missed the fabric softener, for how great it made our clothes feel. I am particular about textures and fabrics, so having soft laundry was a big issue for me.

Well, imagine how excited I was to discover that now we have options to use the brands we know and love. And the laundry essentials for soft clothing. And still be safe for our skin sensitivity!

Did you know that Tide, Downy and Bounce now all have Free and Gentle products? P&G Free & Gentle products offer sensitive skin sufferers a hypoallergenic, dye and perfume free routine while maintaining the effectiveness of trusted brands like Tide, Downy and Bounce.

And, you can still have a complete free & gentle laundry regime using the P&G Free & Gentle products! The complete line includes

I was so excited, I had to put it to the test. And I did laundry. Loads of laundry. And we’ve been wearing those clothes ever since. And do you know what we have noticed?

Nothing! Exactly nothing! And that’s a GOOD thing! That means there are no skin irritations. No one has developed skin rashes. The clothes come out of the wash incredibly clean and soft and fluffy since we’ve been using the Downy Free & Gentle Fabric Softener and the Bounce Free & Gentle Dryer Sheets. And the clothing is fresh and clean without any lingering odors thanks to the Tide Free & Gentle Detergent!

This is especially important for me as I am pulling all the old baby clothes out of storage, rewashing them and placing them in the drawer for our new baby due in a few months! I definitely don’t want her first experience in this world to be with clothing that will cause skin irritation so soon after entering this world.

Changing Our Laundry Products to live Free and Gentle

I am thrilled that I can return to the brands I know and trust to get my clothes clean. And yet still be free & gentle on our skin.

This is a cool post. There were several years that I didn't realize I was using the wrong detergent and my skin was always itchy. The wrong detergent is nothing to play with. Can make you really uncomfortable.

I need to change laundry soaps. The one I have been using doesn't work very well.

I feel fortunate that I haven't experienced any skin irritations when it comes to my laundry detergent but it is still good to know about this. This sounds like a great solutions for those who do have irritations.
