I love my kitchen. Do I love the layout and limited space and strange cabinets that aren’t necessarily user friendly? Um, no. But I do love to cook and create and love my family through dishes.
And let’s be honest. I love food.
Someone once told me that a job can be much easier if you use the right tools. For example, it’s like using a knife vs a screw driver vs a drill to screw in a screw. Can they all do the job? Sure, but it gets easier and easier as you use the tools made for the job.
I was recently introduced to a few tools made specifically for kitchen jobs. I’m not a kitchen gadget kind of person (remember how I don’t have a lot of room in my little kitchen?!), but if it does the job and makes my life easier, I’m all for it.
My husband was out of town for almost a whole week on a business trip. While he was gone, I thought I’d go crazy and have my girlfriends over for a little party so I could introduce them to my new friends: The Better Zester, The Potato Tool, and the Edge Grip Knife Sharpener.
We had a great time sitting around talking about our kitchens, our favorite gadgets, recipes we could use the zester one, and the proper way to sharpen knives. 🙂 We ate delicious treats and even frosted a batch of my Lime Sugar Cookies.
Everyone was so impressed. Not only with the products but also with their price.
Let me introduce you to our friends.
The Better Zester. This is the coolest zester. In the world. It’s a fact. It’s stainless steel v-etched blade is perfect for all kinds of citrus. And let me tell you, it’s quick! With very little effort, the peel was coming right off! The container not only holds the zest, it measures it! But wait, there’s more! 😉
As you slide the container off the zester, it uses a little paddle to collect the zest off the back of the blade. No more digging zest out with your fingers! Seriously, it’s the coolest.
The Potato Tool. I hail from Idaho, Land of Many Potatoes. I have two different brushes beside my sink. A veggie/potato brush and a dishes brush. And while I eat a lot of potatoes, I don’t love pealing them. Has anyone else’s thumb knuckle fallen victim to the blade of the peeler? Mostly that happens when the peeler isn’t sharp and I have to push harder and it slips from my grip.
That and I’m just a klutz.
The Potato Tool is a 3 in 1 tool that is effective and compact. It has a veggie brush with firm bristles (and they get the job done!), a stainless steel coated blade peeler, and a sharp paring knife stored safely inside the handle.
This peeler packs a punch, and I’ve since thrown away my veggie brush. (Thank you KitchenIQ for clearing up space on my counters!)
The Edge Grip Knife Sharpener. Knife sharpeners have always been a bit of a mystery to me. When do I use them? And how? The Edge Grip Knife Sharpener makes it easy. It’s designed to rest on the countertop or grip the edge of it for better torque. It has two stages of sharpening – course to sharpen dull knives and fine to touch up sharp knives – both in one compact tool. Again, thank you KitchenIQ for freeing up some of my kitchen space!
One of my favorite things is that it was designed in the USA by Smith’s Consumer Products, the Edge Experts since 1886. So not only is it a product born and raised in the USA, but it was designed by people who really know what they’re doing.
Everything is available through KitchenIQ’s website or on Amazon. If there is a gadget that will actually work and help me organize my kitchen, then I’m all for it!
