With Summer comes a lot more free time for me to do a kids craft with my kids. I originally wanted to create some fun Picture crafts for the grandparent’s for Mother’s Day, but the boy’s school pictures didn’t come back in time. We just got the boy’s school pictures right before school got out. And Grandma was just commenting how she needed updated pictures of the kids for the fridge. So that gave me a great idea for our first summer kids craft! A new Magnet Fridge frame for pictures of the Grand kids!

Supplies for our first kids craft of the summer

I love doing a kids craft, because they are so simple and normally we can get them done in a matter of less than an hour. But the kids have a lot of fun and they get a chance to be creative. To begin you will need just a few supplies.

I love to use the BIC Mark-It permanent markers because of the quality they offer the craft. It may be a kids craft, but I still want it to last. BIC is a brand I trust and I love the products they offer. Remember our Valentines day cards Craft we used the BIC 4 colors in one pen? I’m still in love with BIC. And those cards are still up at the Grandparent’s house. So I knew I wanted to use BIC again.

Their new  BIC Mark-It markers are perfect. They come in a large package that has three layers. So they offered me a large selection of colors to match up with what each child wants. And it folds up nicely for more compact storage.

The markers themselves have brilliant colors. They are super easy to write with and glide smoothly across the surface. And I love the fine tip! Most markers are big and fat on the end, making it hard for more detailed work. But the  BIC Mark-It markers have that fine tip so I could write more delicately.

Enjoying Creativity with the Kids Craft Magnetic picture frames

After making sure I had the right size picture for each frame, I began by using the  BIC Mark-It markers to write each child’s name on their picture frame. I let each kid pick out which color they wanted. But the  BIC Mark-It markers are designed for adult use only. The whole family can still get involved with the kids craft project, but just make sure only Adults use the BIC Mark-It markers. It is solely for your family’s safety.

I asked each kid if they wanted any more decorations with the markers. Talmage (the 8 yr old) wanted a little more with hearts and flowers colored. So I added those for him. Jonathan (the 9 year old) only wanted his name. Jade, I just did hers for her since she can’t communicate with me on specifics yet.

Once the marker decoration is done, then I turned the kids loose to finish decorating the picture frames with the Glitter Glue and the Sticky Gems. I gave very little instruction, as I feel this helps them with their creative process. If they needed help, I had them give me instruction on what they wanted. Instead of me instructing them. I really loved their ideas for how they wanted to decorate their own picture frame.

Once the picture frames were finished, we set them aside so the Glitter glue could dry.

I came back later and attached each picture to the back of the magnetic picture frame using masking tape. This way as the kids get more recent pictures, the grandparents can simply change out the pictures from the frames.

Now the Kids Craft for this session is done! Like I said, super easy! We are going to be giving them to their Papa (Grandpa) on Sunday for Father’s Day. The kids are quite excited and very proud of their creations.

I love these and they make wonderful gifts for grandparents and aunts and uncles. We use all types of items to add flare such as tissue paper and glitter and even objects and my daughter has taken a interest in drying flowers
