Kidkraft Kitchen Pink Vintage encourages pretend play #holidaygiftguide

When it comes to imaginative play or pretend play, nothing speaks to little kids; especially little girls like a KidKraft kitchen! A KidKraft kitchen offers kids the opportunity to explore their imagination, pretend play and all with a kitchen made from quality material and is built to last.

Kidkraft kitchen means quality

KidKraft believes that every child is an individual with a limitless capacity to create and explore. They strive to encourage a child’s imagination through unique and creative heirloom-quality wooden toys and room furnishings! And I am here to tell you from first hand experience these toys are amazing!

My daughter loves to play “Mom” and that includes anything that deals with kitchen play. She’s had different play kitchens before; but none as amazing as the Pink Vintage KidKraft Kitchen. Kidkraft strives for a higher standard of quality in their play furniture. All the products are built from strong and sturdy wood. This means the KidKraft kitchen is more stable, and durable! Where Jade’s last play kitchens wobbled, bent and broke far too easily.

The box that the KidKraft kitchen arrived in was quite heavy. I had to have the UPS guy lift it over my door threshold just so I could drag it into the living room. Definitely not a package to run to the store and pick up on your own without planning or very strong muscles that can carry such a heavy package. But this gave me confidence that this kitchen won’t be breaking after a few months of play.

It had very clear instructions to follow on how to put this kitchen together. Thankfully the Husband was home visiting this weekend as he was able to get it put together in about 2 hours. Definitely don’t wait until the last minute to put it together. It will take some time. I really recommend if you are getting your child a KidKraft Kitchen for Christmas, put it together before Christmas Morning; so they don’t have to wait all day long for you to put it together. Likewise, who wants to spend all night Christmas eve, or all day Christmas day putting toys together?

I really liked that they had each of the parts organized and clearly labeled. It really helped make putting the KidKraft Kitchen together much easier than looking at two different screws wondering, “which one is J?” It definitely saved us a lot of time. As I said the instructions were very clear and easy to follow and we didn’t struggle one bit putting the kitchen together; just that it does take a fair amount of time getting it together. But it’s after the kitchen is put together that the magic happens!

After the KidKraft Kitchen was completed, we sat back and just admired it! It is absolutely adorable and has everything a little girl will want in a play kitchen:

  • Fridge
  • Oven
  • Sink
  • Stove burners
  • Stove knobs turn and click
  • Microwave with a turntable that actually turns
  • Faucet with handles that actually turn
  • Shelves
  • All doors open and close
  • Phone
  • Additional storage space above and below the sink
  • And more!

As soon as Jade saw this adorable Pink Vintage KidKraft Kitchen, she completely freaked out with squeals, jumping, and her silly little happy feet dance. Oh I wish I could have gotten it videotaped, it was one of the funniest things I’ve seen her do yet! Christmas definitely came early for her. I’ve never seen her so excited about anything before.

It took some coercing, but we finally got her to allow us to move it into her bedroom. She was so excited, she just wanted to keep playing with it right there in the living room. Even moving the kitchen is a big task, because as I mentioned, it is built from solid composite wood and is quite heavy. But the size is absolutely perfect for her little room, and for her height. She can easily reach all the shelves, cupboards, microwave and all. It is big enough to hold her kitchen dishes, pots, pans and play food, yet still small enough to fit a typical room. And even better, the Vintage kitchen comes in White, red, blue, bubblegum and light pink. The pink vintage KidKraft kitchen perfectly matched the pink toy box her Grandpa built her last year for Christmas.

Jade immediately sets out to enlist Mom and Dad into a kitchen party. We had to sit down while she made us drinks and food and brought it to us. We spent a good 20 minutes playing with her, because she wouldn’t let us leave. We had to play with her new Kidkraft kitchen with her.

Definitely one of the features Jade loves the most is the microwave. She is fascinated that it actually has a turntable that actually turns. And I love how the buttons on the outside of the door are painted on and not a sticker that will peel off in just a few months. The phone is another favorite for Jade. It is cordless, which had me a bit concerned that she might lose it. But so far; she always puts it right back where it belongs. It is a big part of her pretend play and she absolutely loves it.

So just how much is the KidKraft kitchen loved? Well, Jade now actually spends most of her free time in her bedroom playing with the KidKraft Kitchen. We also had an incident of Jade getting up at 4AM just so she could play with this kitchen. It was quite an interesting conversation at 4AM trying to tell her to go back to bed and that she could play with her kitchen in the morning.

My favorite features of the KidKraft Kitchen include:

  • Strong, solid and sturdy wood construction
  • Lots of moveable and realistic parts such as opening/closing doors, clicking oven knobs, turnable turntable, etc
  • Perfect size in height, width and length for a toddler.
  • Love the color
  • Love the vintage look
  • The creative ice cube and water dispenser in the Fridge door, just like our real fridge
  • Stylish design
  • Plenty of Storage space for dishes, pans and play food.
  • High quality hardware. The hinges for the opening and closing doors are a solid metal hinge you would find on a real cabinet and not a flimsy plastic like other play kitchens.

What I disliked about the KidKraft kitchen is

  • It is Heavy! Although it is a requirement for any durable play furniture; but it is still heavy to move around.
  • The handles of the kitchen faucet don’t see to be the same high quality standard of materials as the rest of the kitchen. They seem like a cheaper plastic than the durable handles on the cupboards.
  • Takes a long time to put together (again, not much they can change about that and still have it available for shipping)
  • The cupboards close loudly. Seeing as it is a wooden kitchen, the wood definitely makes more noise than a slammed plastic cabinet. Just a consequence that comes with a higher quality play kitchen set.
  • Pricey. The Pink Vintage KidKraft Kitchen retails approximately $122. It does cost more than other toy kitchens we have purchased for Jade; but the quality far surpasses the other kitchens and is definitely worth the price for the quality you are getting.

Overall; the KidKraft kitchen has provided my daughter with hours of pretend play and creativity. It offers her a venue to explore her imagination. And quite honestly has been a product that even the Husband is pleased to have in our home because of the entertainment value and highest quality product. He was often found saying, “Oh, it is perfect!” as he would sit and watch Jade play for hours with her Kidkraft kitchen.

So if it can get even the skeptical Husband to be pleased with it; you know it’s got to be amazing!
