After weeks and weeks of constant rain and cold, we finally have some sun! And it is warm! So you know what my family wants to do when the sun comes out? They want to have a backyard BBQ!
Now you may be thinking “Sheesh, I’m too tired to throw together a backyard BBQ!” And you know what? You are not alone!
After all the stress of the last few weeks of school, vehicles breaking down, having to find a new van, some family health issues, a funeral, lots of travel, and school coming to an end; the last thing I need is more stress of hosting a big elaborate party.
But at the same time we need some happy moments after all we’ve gone through in May. So I’m going to show you how I host a simple Backyard BBQ with our family to brighten up what has been a very stressful and difficult last few weeks.
Host a Simple Backyard BBQ
1. Simple & Delicious food. Make it simple by enjoying food that is simple to make. For us that means grilling outside so there are no dishes. And it doesn’t heat up the house. And food that the kids will eat which means hamburgers and hot dogs!
Throw in a side salad, or veggie tray, some fresh watermelon or fruit tray and chips.
Then have simple ice cream floats in the Stackable Acrylic Goblet Set or just ice cream with fun toppings in the Carmelo Melamine bowl for dessert! Or even just some cupcakes and brownies picked up at the store served on the Carmelo Melamine salad or dinner plate.
2. Set the scene. Make it a comfortable place to hang out. Make sure you have seating for everyone. We decided to hang out in our Outdoor Oasis I set up last week.
Put up a small table to hold all the food with a tablecloth and spread out the food to make it buffet style.
3. Simple Decorating. You don’t have to be elaborate in your decorations for a fun backyard BBQ! Go simple, like putting some flowers in the beautiful Gaze Acrylic Pitcher for a unique look.
And take some battery tea lights and place them in the multi-colored Stackable Acrylic Goblet Set and display around the scene for a fun ambiant look. When the sun starts to set, it will provide beautiful lighting for your backyard BBQ.
4. Gather and enjoy. The last step is to gather the family together and enjoy the delicious food, in the fresh air. And enjoy the company of having your family close. Make lasting memories you will all enjoy. And take the time to unwind from all the stress you have been under.
Bonus Tip: if you want to make it even more fun, invite close friends over for a potluck Backyard BBQ. Meaning have them bring a dish to enjoy with you. So you aren’t stuck doing all the food. And then you can all enjoy a fun Backyard BBQ with little stress and lots of great food and company.
Then at the end, clear away the food, and relax in the backyard with the flowers and glowing goblets, and watch the sun set!
You don’t have to spend a lot of time or energy to have a meaningful backyard BBQ. With a few key pieces from Pier 1 Imports, you can have a chic Backyard BBQ, to help you build lasting memories with your family too. It can look fancy without the hours of prep that a fancy backyard BBQ usually requires.
