When the boys were little we would always dress up in a family themed Halloween Costumes. But as they grew older, each kid started having their own opinion and likes and dislikes. Goodness, what do they think; they have the freedom to think for themselves? GASP! Our last year of dressing in a theme was when Miss Jade was 2 years old and they all dressed up in Star Wars Themed costumes.
After that each year the kids each wanted to be something different. Mostly it was Miss Jade wanted to be a princess or a butterfly or a fairy. No more Star Wars for her. So that quickly put an end of our tradition of dressing up as a family theme. And then emerged each child picking out what they wanted to wear for themselves.
Chasing Fireflies Halloween Costumes
So now every year we start planning early. And let the kids pick out their own costumes. And they just love it. Both boys tend to continue the tradition of Star Wars.
Although every now and then they will branch out to a different theme. But mostly it is always Star Wars. And each year they want a new costume because they won’t stop growing!
And Miss Jade just loves anything that will offer her something frilly, with wings, and glitter and makes her feel girly.
So off I go to my favorite site to shop for costumes. I love the Chasing Fireflies costumes. They have a large variety of quality costumes that I can’t find anywhere else.
This year Jonathan wanted to be a Stormtrooper. He is in that odd age where he doesn’t fit into little boy costumes but is still too small for teenage/adult costumes. But thankfully Chasing Fireflies has what we need. And we got him the Ultimate StormTrooper costume with blaster and it actually fits him!
It has a great fit and it is easy for him to get on and off. The Helmet is the tricky part as it is an actual helmet! Not a mask that attaches with strings. It is 2 pieces that velcro together so it is slightly adjustable for kids with glasses or different sized heads.
And the best is that it fully covers him. So all you see is a slight showing of his sneakers. For the most part he is completely in costume and we don’t have to figure out how to hide his regular clothes underneath.
Now Talmage loves to be unique so he picked Ezra Bridger from the new Star Wars Cartoons. As well as his unique lightsaber weapon. This is a little more simple that his brother’s costume.
Although it also includes a fun backpack just like the character in the cartoons.
Now miss Jade has the most elaborate costume of them all. Why? Well because she’s a girl and there are just so many more things you can do with a girls costume. She picked out the Light up Fantasy Firefly with all the accessories. But if you ask her what she is, she will say she is a Butterfly Princess.
And I personally prefer costumes that light up when possible. It helps makes the kids a little more visible. Jade just loves that it lights up so she feels like she sparkles.
And the Shoes! Can I say how much she loves the shoes? Glitter galore! And she can wear them after Halloween as well for any of her dress up moments.
We also picked up a pettiskirt so that it helps fluff out her fairy princess costume.
And you can’t forget the wings! Honestly I think this is Jade’s favorite part. She adores the wings.
And then finish it off with a nice jeweled crown.
Now with all the kids decked out, they are ready for the Halloween festivities to begin.
We have not only the School Halloween Parties coming up, but also our neighborhood trunk or treating, and then Halloween Night activities as well.
And best of all; Miss Jade’s costume is great for more than just Halloween. It also makes great props for a photography shoot. Talk about a fun subject as I’m practicing with editing photos and portraits! You can create all kinds of looks with stunning costumes like these!
And they are also great for any cosplay events coming up like Comic Con or even just dress up party. I can tell you, my boys are going to be wearing their costumes when we go see the new Star Wars movie this Holiday season!
Chasing Fireflies has all kinds of amazing costumes for Halloween or just for fun. Or even for the special photo sessions you are planning. Or if Costumes aren’t your thing, they also carry beautiful outfits for all seasons. We got our Holiday outfits from Chasing Fireflies last year if you will remember.
