If you have followed our blog for any amount of time, it is no surprise that I am a fan of Tyson chicken products! I mean we’ve made snowmen from Tyson Chicken nuggets, We’ve had a dipping family game night using Tyson products to make our Chicken and Potato burrito, and now I’m at it again! Only this time; it’s time for some summer cooking! Thanks to Tyson sending me some frozen boneless Chicken breasts of their newest flavors, I spent some time in the kitchen playing around with recipes. And I have the families favorite Summer Chicken kabob recipe!

The weather has finally started to get warm and that means we are anxious for summer style dinners! Seriously, I can’t wait for summer meals. They are always my favorite. We typically grill foods 4-6 times a week in the summer. While we still grill all winter long, we usually only grill 2-5 times a week in the winter. And it’s harder to get seasonal veggies in the winter as well.

So with spring comes better prices on summer vegetables. And that makes for delicious shish kabobs! And even better when you can add in a delicious chicken cut. Now with school still on; I don’t have as much time as I do in the summer to season and marinade my chicken. So I often turn to Tyson and their pre-seasoned boneless Skinless Chicken breasts. The  new flavors just released last April to Walmart’s Frozen food section! You can see my entire shopping trip from my Google + Album.

Tyson was kind enough to send me these two new flavors so I could experiment and create a new recipe with them. Boy oh boy was my family excited! Like I said. We love Tyson! So with the new flavors of Smokey Steakhouse and Southwest Pepper Trio that was just screaming Chicken Kabob!

And I love that it was so easy! I love easy and healthy chicken dinners. And with a busy family I need as easy as possible. But without sacrificing flavor or health. And boy these new flavors hit the mark right on! But enough praising Tyson. I could go on all day. Let’s get to the recipe. That is why you are here anyway. Not to hear me rambling about my obsession…love of Tyson frozen foods.

Simple Grilled Tyson chicken kabob recipe instructions

Simply get your flavor choice of Tyson frozen, skinless chicken breasts. And then gather all the fruits and vegetables you would like on your kabobs. We have all sorts of taste buds in our family. That is one reason why chicken kabob is such a huge hit. Because each person can create their own kabob stick perfectly to their liking. Common favorite chicken kabobo additions include:

  • Bell peppers- red, green-orange-yellow
  • Red onion
  • Mushrooms
  • Grape or cherry tomatoes
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Baby potatoes
  • Corn on the cob.
  • Tyson Southwest pepper trio seasoned boneless, skinless Chicken breasts
  • Tyson Smokey Steakhouse seasoned boneless, skinless Chicken breasts

Simply cut up the vegetables and chicken into bite sized chunks. For the potatoes either slice them into smaller pieces or cook them whole in the microwave for a few minutes. Leaving them just as they are, they won’t cook all the way through before the chicken is finished on the grill. They need to be either smaller pieces or precooked in the microwave to ensure the center is cooked. It takes about 5 minutes in the microwave. Then add them to the kabob stick and grill as normal.

Then simply allow each person to build their own kabob stick with the additions they want. T. Only likes Chicken and pineapple. J. Loves chicken, pineapple and corn on the cob. I love red bell peppers, onions, pineapple, tomatoes and potatoes. The husband loves all of it.

We made a combination of both the Tyson Southwest pepper trio and the Smokey Steakhouse chicken breasts. It really added to the chicken kabob dinner. Because they come pre-seasoned and already boneless and skinless; all you have to do is allow them to thaw in the fridge and cut them up into chunks. Super easy!

Mixing certain items next to the chicken such as onions, pineapple or the peppers will slightly change the flavor of the chicken. Or putting the potatoes next to the chicken will really flavor the potato. Some items are delicious no matter where you place them such as the grilled pineapple or tomatoes. Experiment on different chicken kabob sticks the order and find your own preference.

Let me just say the smell was out of this world! And that is even before we even got out to the grill! The Tyson seasoned chicken already started to blend with the onion and pepper scents and everyone was salivating and anxious for dinner just while we were building the kabobs. Once you have everyone’s chicken kabob scewers ready, it’s time to get them out to the preheated grill. We have a gas grill. So I started it up when I began slicing the vegetables. I set the temperature to 350 degrees. If you have a charcoal grill…Well sorry, I haven’t a clue about those. We always use a gas grill.

There is no need for any special plate or container. We place our chicken kabob directly on the grill. And it picks up the best grilled flavor. We cook them at 350 degrees and close the lid. I return every 4-6 minutes to rotate and turn the chicken kabob sticks. Simply keep turning and rotating the chicken kabob skewers every 4-6 minutes until the chicken is cooked thoroughly.

I should give you a warning. You better be prepared to salivate and feel immense hunger pains as you grill these. They smell even better as they grill. And you will be dying for a taste long before they are cooked. But just be patient it is so worth the wait!

When the chicken is cooked through, remove from the grill and serve! Everyone will love this meal. The kids have asked for this dinner again already. The husband took any leftovers to school the next day and was the envy of all his classmates. I have been craving for more as well! And the only problem is that these flavors aren’t available until April 9th! That is the only downside. We fell in love with both flavors and we have to wait until we can get more. I have a lot more meal plan ideas with these like chicken quesadillas, or chicken salads for starters.

I tried this recipe on my new grill i got as a gift from my wife "Kabobeque BBQ Grills". the kabobs came out amazing, they were juicy, soft and flavorful. A++ recipe

The grill i got automatically rotates 13 skewers, so this kabob recipe was a fast n fun thing.
