You know by now that I love being a mother. It was my destiny. My calling in life!
But as one mother recently said it best, a car can’t run without gas. And you can’t fill up the tank while the car is running. So, to keep my mom machine running its best, I have to take a step back and have a little down time.
My friends and I love to spend time together. What I love about my ladies is that we’re positive and uplifting. We help each other. We love and support each other. We laugh and cry and love.
Recently my husband and I went to Hawaii. I was a little freaked out about flying over the ocean. To soothe my nerves, my husband bought me a coloring book. I packed it in my carry on and pulled it out when we got to the ocean. It helped me keep my mind clean and my hands busy.
So what could be better for filling up my fuel tank that spending time with the girls and doing something that soothes?

This is definitely a recipe for a girls’ night activity.
So…I’ve had a stressful summer. We updated our house in two weeks (including painting the whole house and installing new flooring in the kitchen and bathroom), sold it three weeks later, then moved three weeks after that. Now we’re living with my in-laws while our house is being built.
Yeah, it’s been a crazy summer. So I gathered my girls together, and we had an evening of colorful food and coloring.
The five of us sat around with fun shirts and just laughed and talked while we colored.
It was relaxing and stress free.
We loved watching our shirts take life. And, of course, we had treats. I made rainbow fruit kabobs (colorful food for a colorful evening!), and we had watermelon and cookies. Yum!It was so great to reconnect with my friends!
I opted to accent my sun design rather than fill in every detail. I love the pop it gives the design, and I know there’s not another shirt like it in the whole world. Like my friend says, It’s a Deborah Original. 😉
