Fall Fashion: One dress, three looks!

So, t-shirt dresses are way in fashion right now, perfect for fall fashion. I hopped right on that fad-train and rode it all the way to the station. Or rather, I rode it all the way to PayPal. These mobile shopping apps get me in trouble! Anyway, when I saw my new dress, however, I rumpled it up and shoved it in my drawer.

You see, I’m not all that used to having to dress up my dress. I just throw it on and head out. The t-shirt dress I’d bought didn’t allow for that. I gave it up to Goodwill without a single regret.

Then I got thinking…what could I have done differently? I hate to waste money. I’m a frugal lady. Did I give up too soon?

Yup. I did.

In penance, I’m going to show you three ways to wear one dress. May every dress have a chance at being your favorite OOTD (outfit of the day). 😉

Here is my dress, SOTH (straight off the hanger). Is that a thing? If not, it should be!

It’s a beautiful dress!

But all on its own, it feels more like a canvas ready for painting. So let’s get down to business!

Look #1: Sophisticated with a bib necklace.

You need something bold to make a statement, so a little dainty necklace may not do it.

Look #2: Classy with a cardigan and a scarf.

This look is so fun, I think. It’s one of my favorite ways to dress up a regular t-shirt, so on a dress it just makes sense!

This just screams, “Welcome fall!” But it could just as easily be appropriate for spring if you trade out the earthy tones for something bright, like teal or coral.

Look #3: Laid back with plaid.

This is more for like a lunch date with the girls or a concert night when you’re trying to fit in. 😉

I just took a plaid shirt and tied it around my waist, traded in my heels for a pair of ankle boots, and bam. I’m 17 again! Oh, except for the gray hairs and wrinkles. Details, details.

I just seriously love being able to take one wardrobe item and use it for so many different looks.

Special thanks to my husband for being my photographer, my in-laws for letting us play in their cat tails, and my kids for having cat tail wars and spreading fluff all over the place.
