Exploring Motion with Dareway

We are encouraging our kids to spend more time outdoors with the new Dareway we received in exchange for an honest review. As always our experiences and opinion is 100% our own and wasn’t influenced by the brand.

As parents we all want the best for our kids. And we want to help them create cherished memories of their childhood. But society now has us all focused on the newest video game. The newest app on the tablet or phone. Kids just aren’t active like they used to be when I was a kid.

I remember when I was young I would spend hours outside playing. Of course we lived on a grain farm. So I had acres to run and explore. I would ride my bike through the culvert when it was dry. Or put on my bathing suit and splash away in the water when it was irrigation time. I climbed bails of hay, and made mud pies in the driveway.

I remember thinking I had the best childhood! And now I see my kids sitting like lumps on a log watching TV, or playing video games. Don’t get me wrong, I love a great TV show/movie or fun video game just as much as the next kid. But I grew up knowing boundaries for electronics. And so I want to instill that in my kids as well. TV, movies and video games have a time and place. But only when well balanced with outside play.

It’s been hard to get that proper balance lately due to school work taking priority on our time, and me juggling a brand new baby and working to create a new look and design to our blog. Yes, we will be rebranding with a new look and even better content soon, so keep your eyes open for the coming changes!

But all these have pulled on our time and attention so the arrival of the Dareway came just in time to help us take a time out to create some fun memories.

Dareway Creates Lasting Memories

The Dareway showed up on our doorstep and the kids were in awe. They honestly didn’t know whether to believe it really was what was on the picture of the box.

I should have gotten a picture, but the husband was too excited to get started putting the Dareway together, so it’s a lost photo opportunity.

He is a mechanical engineer so he probably has a unique perspective on assembly, but he grumbled quite a bit during assembly. Complaining about the instructions not being clear and the screws not labeled. When all is said and done the front cover is still missing 2 screws. Only because no matter what he did he could not get the screws to fit the angle to be inserted and screwed into place. So in our rating of the Dareway we have to pull off 1 star for design and difficulty of assembly.

But after it was assembled the magic began! Three of our kids (ages 6, 10 & 11) are all within the weight restriction and they love taking turns on the Dareway. When it was put together the 10 year old immediately hoped on it inside the house and was our test driver. The house was full of laughter as the kids got used to it.

The wheels would spin quite a bit inside before actually moving forward. So a few days later we took it outside and let the kids ride it around our large cement patio. After a while the wheels weren’t as smooth and they had a lot more traction. This makes starting  a lot easier and less jerky.

The Dareway is the first-of-its-kind ride on toy for kids up to 89 pounds and ages 5+. It offers pure joy as kids stand on a sturdy platform that provides stability for one rider at a time. It features a foot pedal accelerator which controls forward motion up to 3.7 mph.

Then also features handle-grip buttons for left and right turns! These can even accomplish amazing 360-degree spins! Or you can press both buttons together and move in reverse! That really WOW’d the kids!

The fun of the Dareway can help teach kids balance and balance while in motion.

Plus the kids can personalize the Dareway with the fun sheet of stickers that comes with the Dareway!

Although, if you have more than one child you may have a battle on your hands on how it will be decorated. But hey, they can learn how to cooperate, and make compromises.

Moms and Dads love that the Dareway gets the kids out of the house and playing outside. Plus we love that it has a rechargeable battery! This provides a constant source of outside entertainment. And teaches the kids responsibility to remember to charge the battery if they want to ride again the next day.

Not only has the Dareway encouraged our kids to go outside and play more, but all the neighbor kids think it is the coolest thing ever! And we had a line of neighbor kids form up outside our garage all wanting a turn.

It has a nice speed that is just right for our little 6 year old. It’s not too fast for her. But still fast enough that the 10 & 11 year old are entertained.
They all love driving forward, they laugh at spinning in circles and everyone cheered for joy when they figured out how to drive backwards! Yes, you can back up. And then all the kids had to have a turn practicing backing up.

That Dareway looks like a blast! I bet your kids and their friends are going to be playing with that for years to come, weather permitting.

This is so cool. My kids would have loved this when they were younger. I will have to share this with my friends with little ones.

I know my kids and probably even husabnd would love this ride on toy! They were just outside playing on a scooter so this would be such a blast.
