Raising an unconventional Little athlete

Parenting can be hard. As if knowing how to raise your little ones right wasn’t hard enough; you also have to learn to teach them to be well rounded and encouraged in their desires. And at the same time you have to offer opportunities to let our little athletes grow in their talents.

My boys are surrounded by all their friends who love sports. They all do some kind of sport be it soccer, football, softball,or  karate! But my boys are brain boys. They love science, math and engineering. But we try to encourage balance. So while my boys don’t enjoy organized city sports, they still love to be active and be competitive in their own sports. They are my unconventional little athletes!

Like Sword Fighting! This is a sport that they picked up from their dad. They work hard to learn skills on how to block, attack, and all the hand and eye coordination required.

It can get a lot of fun for them. Plus offers a great experience for them to be active and physically fit. This is how they love to spend their time when I convince them to get out of the house and get their little athlete bodies in motion!

Raising an unconventional Little athlete

Our little athletes have become rather good at their unconventional sports. And that is all because we worked to be supportive in something that they showed a little interest in.

You can also support your little athletes in their own sports be them conventional or unconventional by partaking in the #JustAKidFrom campaign.

POWERADE believes that with the right motivation our everyday athletes can realize their potential and one day be the athletes that they look up to. Sports have a major impact on our communities. Whether it is t-ball or the pros, every athlete in every league has a story waiting to be told.
