Living life with chronic headaches is no fun at all. I mean, they get in the way of everything that is important.
Life as a mom is busy enough without a headache getting in my way.
I used to get headaches so severely that I couldn’t be a mom. I would be so sick in bed that I couldn’t spend any time with my little ones making memories. Talk about depressing.
It’s been a long road with my Doctors to find ways to manage my headaches so I can get back to being a Mom and spending time with my little ones!
I don’t want to miss out on Miss Rose’s first steps or her silly antics because I was down and out with a headache.
Or possibly miss my oldest’s Clarinet concert because my headache makes it too difficult to listen.
Or taking one on one time with Miss Jade, baking up some cookies (her favorite activity with Mom) because Mommy isn’t baking if my headache is knocking.
When it comes to my headaches there is only one method that I’ve found to work almost every single time. A dose of Excedrin® Extra Strength and a bottle of my favorite caffeinated beverage or my headache busting Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake 😉 Most of the time this is all I need.
Though it doesn’t always eliminate my headache, I am able to function through the worst of them thanks to Excedrin® Extra Strength.
The great thing is that you can trust Excedrin® for fast headache relief with a variety of options.
The Husband likes Excedrin® Tension Headache because he likes to keep his aspirin intake minimal. The Excedrin® Tension Headache offers Aspirin-free headache relief.
I always have to have a supply of Excedrin® Extra Strength on hand for when my headaches strike! The Excedrin® Extra Strength offers Fast Headache Relief. For some, relief starts in just 15 minutes
And then I always keep a bottle of Excedrin® PM Headache in my nightstand drawer for when the headaches hit at night. It features two pain fighters plus a sleep aid to give me Night time headache relief and help me sleep.
Too often I’ll get a headache in the evening before bed or wake up in the middle of the night with a headache. The last thing I want at these times is to amp up on caffeine, so I love to use Excedrin® PM Headache to help ease my headache pain and help me fall asleep; praying when I wake up my headache will be a distant dream.
Now headaches aren’t always going to give you notice. Often times my headaches hit me at the most inopportune moments. Like when I’m cuddling with my sweet baby Rose.
Or when we spending a day at the nature park.
In the Middle of Church! This one happens way too often!
While doing my monthly Grocery Shopping trip. You know the BIG one, that takes a few hours. You can’t just say “oh nevermind…I have a headache, I’ll just leave this cart here and come back later”. Nope, I gotta finish it!
So what do you do when you are out and about and a massive headache hits?
That is where my easy travel pill case comes in. It is small and compact so you can put it into a purse, a diaper bag, a glove compartment, a headache survival kit, or even just your pocket!
And you can easily carry around your emergency Excedrin® Extra Strength dose to combat the sudden headaches that hit!
Travel Pill Case Supplies:
- 5 gram cosmetic container Jar
- 1/8″ ribbon.
- Mod Podge
- 1.5″ Pendant
- Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue
- Excedrin® pain reliever of your choice
Shopping notes:
- I couldn’t find the cosmetic jars at the store. I had to order them online at Walmart.com. When buying the jars at Walmart, select the 50 count when purchasing (unless you have plans for a LOT of jars). You can make a number of these for friends, family or just one for each purse, car, diaper bag you own. Then save the remaining jars to make a headache balm or lip balm – recipes coming soon.
- Everything else can easily be picked up at your local Walmart. The Excedrin® is located easily in the Pain Reliever aisle.
- When buying a pendant, you want one with a flat back. You can pick a button with flat back, or search in the jewelry supply section for pendants. If it has a loop, you can even thread the Travel Pill case onto a chain and wear it as a necklace or attached it to a keyring.
This Travel Pill Case is super easy to put together. It takes very little time. More time is spent waiting for it to dry than actually putting it together!
The first step is attaching the pendant to the top of the cosmetic container.
Remove the lid. Paint a thick layer of Mod Podge onto the top outside of the lid. Then attach the pendant centered onto the lid.
Allow to dry for 24 hours. As I said, this is the hardest part. Waiting for it to dry.
Measure the ribbon around the circumference of the cosmetic container. Trim. Then using the first as a pattern, cut a second length of ribbon the same size.
Apply a small dab of hot glue to the ribbon and begin to wrap around the circumference of the lid.
Work in small spurts of the ribbon. Add a little glue, then wrap tightly to the lid.
Then add a little more glue to more of the ribbon and wrap around again.
Continue until you have the ribbon attached all the way around the lid.
Repeat the same process for the bottom of the cosmetic jar.
Lastly, fill your travel pill case with a single dose of Excedrin® Extra Strength! And that is it!
Now we have a cute travel pill case! It’s the perfect size to carry 1-2 doses of your favorite Excedrin® headache reliever!
Pop the travel pill case into your purse.
Or your diaper bag!
Or even put one in each car!
This way, you are never without a dose of Excedrin® Extra Strength when you are out and about! Because we all know that headaches don’t play fair.
They sometimes don’t give a warning and they can come at any time. Now you are prepared to fight back!

Thank you Mindy! I'm about to make a few different pill holders for the different cars and diaper bags/purses. I'm all about being prepared when it comes to my headaches.

Very cute project. It's so hard getting headaches as a mom and then having to take care of the family. Ugh. I actually have one this morning. I need some Excedrin STAT! {client}
