I love being a woman. It’s fantastic. Really and truly, it is. There are way too many good things to list. Believe me, I tried.
But one of the tricky parts of being a woman is our monthly cycle.
I can’t speak for every woman, but I know for me, it’s especially rough during that time. Who wants to be held back from their busy lives? I know I don’t.
The best way to survive your cycle is to be prepared. Early on in my experience as a blossoming woman, I carried a survival kit with me everywhere I went! My husband has lovingly dubbed it an “Ammo Pack.” It’s full of my arsenal to feel my best!
Every woman – teenagers on up – should have a survival kit. Head to Walgreen’s to supply your Ammo Pack with the essentials:
Tampons
Pads
Liners
Cleansing Wipes
Zip seal baggies
Travel sized pain meds
An extra pair of underwear – sealed in a baggie
A piece of chocolate
Lip balm
Put it all in a darling bag. I got this one at Walgreens for just a few dollars. I found it in the makeup section with their makeup bags, but I think around school season I’ve seen pencil pouches that work just as well.
Teenagers taking this survival kit to school may not be able to pack medication. Check with your school policies first.
The kit is small (and affordable!) enough that you can make several and keep them on hand everywhere. Put it in your back pack. Keep it in your car. Pack one in your purse. The extra pair of undies has definitely saved me more than once. Make sure you have extras of everything. You never know when you might forget to restock or when a friend will need your help.
I’d suggest getting flushable cleansing wipes. If you can’t find a travel size, buy a bigger package and seal a few inside a zip seal baggie.
And why a piece of chocolate? Sometimes when you’re in a stressful situation, you just want a bit of chocolate. (I must be stressed all the time. *shrug*) And every girl likes to feel pretty. Some lip balm just seals the deal after freshening up.
And can we talk liners for just a second?
I know they sort of sound superfluous when you have tampons and pads, but I’m telling you, they’re just as important! Tampons are wonderful, but they’re only reliable to a certain point. Liners are just the extra little something you need to make sure you’re confident and focused on your day, not your proximity to a bathroom. And having a liner that fits everywhere, is comfortable and doesn’t leave you feeling clammy or gross, that’s important! For tampon backup, I’d suggest U by Kotex Curves®. They’re thin and comfortable, perfect for every day use!
And for the days when you’re body is just not sure if it’s coming or going, U by Kotex® Lightdays Liners are awesome! There is an all-around leakage barrier that helps keep your liner comfortable and secure for protection that blends seamlessly into your day. Put a few in your Ammo Pack and you’re prepared to face anything.
Because, let’s face it. Nothing should hold us back from riding our bike to the library, or going out to a play, or window shopping with the girls, or acing that calculus test. Having a cycle survival kit at the ready is the best way to rest easy and live free!
And seriously, Walgreen’s has all that you need to make your own cycle survival kit. At my store, the U by Kotex Curves® and U by Kotex® Lightdays Liners were right by each other. Sweet!
And if you’re an Ibotta user, here’s a little something to sweeten the deal! Get $.75 off liners through the Ibotta rebates:

You pretty much nailed it when you said "seclusion with a good book". That's exactly what I want to be doing when I'm on my cycle. #client

Lip Balm. I love it. sometimes I just don't feel pretty when cycle comes around. Tired, achy and bloated. I love the idea of putting a little something on that reminds me that I am! awesome.

I should make one of these for my daughter. She is that age where she will be starting any day. This might make her feel better.
