I live a long way away from my side of the family. For almost 10 years, my entire family (consisting of 9 siblings and a few of their spouses, plus some nieces and nephews) lived in one city 700 miles away from me. It was a 10 – 12 hour drive one way. My son was even born there, and we adopted him at birth and drove him the 12 hours home when he was just three days old.
We have a loving relationship with the road, road trips, and the ever dependable vehicle that safely coaches us and our precious cargo on our many trips.
Speaking of that precious cargo. Have you ever tried to get your oil changed with two kids in tow? You have to make an appointment. Then you have to arrange for transportation to the mechanics and then home while you wait, or you can sit in the waiting room and hope your kids don’t have a melt down. Or, if they’re older, you have to spend an interminable amount of time volleying: “I’m bored!” “When will we be done?!” “Can I play on your phone?” It’s not exactly pleasant. And because of the hassle, getting the oil changed usually gets pushed back to the very last minute.
“Oh, we’re going on a trip? Uh, ok. Well, the car needs an oil change.”
And then we have to figure out where to squeeze it in between shopping for the trip and getting the car ready. But it has to be done because you cannot drive 1400 miles on an engine that needs an oil change. Especially when about 900 of those miles are through barren desert with no cell signal and no sign of life except your tires on the asphalt.
With the Automotive Care Center at Walmart, I can do it all! The ACC doesn’t require an appointment. We followed the signs to the ACC, pulled up and waited. An ACC associate came out and scanned the car, asked us some questions, recommended what kind of services to get – we went with high mileage since our car is…well loved.
And then we were off!
We filled our entire shopping cart to the brim (some of that space was taken up by a three year old in a leg cast, but I digress), and by the time we were done shopping for our necessities, the car was done and waiting for us. How slick is that?!
And apparently, when you check your car in, they print off a little slip so you can check the progress of your car. You scan it at any price scanner in the store, and it’ll show you the status of your oil change. That’s a pretty neat little feature! Unfortunately, I was chasing children, so they gave it to my husband, who forgot to tell me about it. When we checked out, the associate said, “I was just about to call you! You must have scanned your paper.” And I went, “What?”
That earned a sheepish look from the hubs. “Oops.” (Insert innocent shoulder shrug.)
It would have been a pretty handy little thing to have. Just like the Automotive Care Center is pretty handy.
No more having to call and make an appointment. No more juggling cars and rides to get the oil changed. Sitting in a waiting room? I’m so over it. Checking off a bunch of stuff on my to-do list at the same time? Oh yeah. So I know you’re sold on the multitasking. But one of the best reasons to go the Walmart Automotive Care Center is because they use Pennzoil.
You think the oil a service center uses doesn’t matter? You’d be wrong. Did you know that all Pennzoil products help clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind? Who wants sludge?! Pennzoil is designed for complete protection and will allow you to drive an extra of 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine. An extra 550 miles?! Yes please.
And remember when I said we needed the high mileage service? This helps to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines. It’s a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, to help keep the engines running clean and going strong for a long time.
And really, if that weren’t enough, Pennzoil offers a free warranty that covers 15 engine parts that may fail due to engine wear or which experience abnormal wear due to friction. (For more information, check out the Pennzoil Warranty Site.)
So, you might be sitting there thinking, that’s all well and good, but I change my own oil. Great! That’s an awesome skill to have. But you have to buy the oil. Next time you’re due for an oil change, remember Pennzoil. No other motor oil provides better protection from friction.
You’ve heard of Ibotta, right? Check out Ibotta’s current promotion! $5 off one 5-quart bottle of Pennzoil Platinum with PurePlus Technology.
Sweet!
But wait, there’s more! (I’ve always wanted to say that.)

How convenient is that.... I've seen the shop before at Walmart, but never thought about using them for an oil change, sooo have to do that and tell my Teen, he needs to learn some car maintenance and Walmart would be a great place to start..thanks for sharing

I'm all about getting my oil changed when I can check off some errands on my shopping list at the same time! We use our cars daily, but we often forget to show them the love, too. And it sounds like your car needs extra-special love for all of that desert driving. Thanks for sharing! #client

I love the convenience of not having to sit in the car while the oil is changed! Getting some shopping done is a great way to multi task.
