With Summer at an end and Autumn beginning, it is time to clean up from all the fun! Since the kids are back in school, it is the ideal time to get the car interior cleaning done! So you can clean out after all the summer travels.
I don’t know about you, but the car interior cleaning has always left me feeling a bit daunted. But use these little tricks and it can turn the car interior cleaning into a breeze!
Tips for Easy Car Interior Cleaning
Pick up First! The very first thing you should do is remove all trash from the van. Go through and gather up trash, papers, old receipts, juice boxes, straws, and left-over chunks of food (what only my kids scatter their food all over?).
Pick up any car accessories you want to keep in your car and set them aside out of the way while you clean. This includes car seats and booster chairs.
Pick up any extra accessories your car may have picked up over the summer that you no longer need. Items such as travel CDs, books, toys, summer emergency entertainment kits, etc and move them to a good storage space until next summer or your next trip.
Begin at the top. With the trash out of the way and no accessories in the way, we can begin the actual cleaning now. You always want to begin from the top and work your way down. This way, as you clean up dirt and dust from up top, it may settle down on the surface below.
So start with the Windows. We prefer to use natural cleaners so a simple washing with a microfiber cloth and a dry microfiber cloth for polishing does the trick. But if you happen to have streaks or such, you may need to include a gentle window cleaner or vinegar in your washing water to remove streaks and fingerprints.
Blow Air! Moving from the windows down the next surface would be the dashboard. You have to be gentle with the dashboard with all the electronic wires and buttons and tiny crevices. The best tip is to use a can of compressed air to blow dust out of the crevices without harming the electronics.
If the dirt doesn’t move with a burst of air, you can use a Q-tip to gently clean up the tight spots.
A Gentle Wipe. Next wipe over the steering wheel, console, cup holders, car door handles, etc with a damp cloth. Basically, any surface that isn’t electronic/window/carpet you can gently clean with a damp microfiber cloth to remove the dust and any sticky residue. This also includes seats if you happen to have leather or vinyl.
If you have leather seats you should use a leather conditioner. Avoid products that give a high-gloss, slippery surface.
Vacuum. The final step now is to vacuum. If you have fabric seats begin there. If not, you can begin with the air vents and then the floors.
I absolutely love my Dyson V6 Car + Boat for car interior cleaning! It makes the big job quick and easy! Instead of hauling out a big vacuum, it’s small and lightweight! Plus it is super easy to maneuver around!
And because it is cordless I don’t have to haul out the extension cord to make sure I have power. And thanks to the combination tool, crevice tool and extension hose, I can reach the hard to reach spaces in the car because of it’s compact size!
The Dyson V6 motor is one and a half times more powerful than the previous motor, and it draws more power from the battery source. Nothing is wasted.
It quite literally holds the same level of suction from the first trigger til the last! You don’t have to worry about it losing suction as the battery dies.
If you need to dust in the car you can use the mini soft dusting brush for fragile areas like the console and air vents.
Remove the floor mats and vacuum them with the mini-motorized tool attachment. If you have tough dirt spots you can switch to the stubborn dirt brush for ground-in dirt.
Do a once over with the Dyson V6 Car + Boat. Then move all the chairs and vacuum underneath each one again.
Make sure to get in the tiny crevices with the crevice tool!
Move the chair back and check for any spots you may have missed.
Replace the floor mats.
Replace the car seats, booster chairs and other car accessories you want to keep in your car.
Empty the canister of the Dyson V6. Then easily store it away for the next easy car interior cleaning!
And that’s it! You are finished with your car interior cleaning! It wasn’t so bad, now was it?
Make sure to recharge the Dyson V6 to ensure it is ready for the next quick cleanup session! The Dyson V6 Car + Boat only takes a few hours to fully charge. And it can last up to 20 minutes of use. Plus it features a trigger grip that releases instantly, meaning battery power is only used for vacuuming!
The Dyson V6 car + Boat is great for any upholstery or corner. It’s not just for cars and boats too! It’s a great little vacuum for cleaning up crumbs on your furniture or a quick vacuum of your stairs!
And it’s a great way to make your family jealous when they come to visit and see your child vacuuming the stairs! Then they have to take a turn trying it out! Special thanks to my Bro-in-law and Sister for testing it out on my stairs and then saying “Man, I want one of these!”
The Dyson V6 really is that easy to use! The kids fight over who gets to use it when it comes time to vacuum the stairs. And if you have pets, fear not! It is awesome on pet hair!
I took our Dyson V6 with us when we visited my Dad this summer. I love how easily it packed in with us as we traveled and was easily available to clean up any spills along the way.
Talk about fabulous! Kid spills all their crackers in the car as you are driving. no problem! Just pull out the Dyson V6 at the pit stop and clean it all up before they crunch them under their feet!
Now check out how amazing it does on my dad’s cat bed that hasn’t been vacuumed in over a year! Who knew it was black under all that cat hair!?
I often keep my Dyson V6 near my portable food photography studio because there is always a spill waiting to be cleaned up! I can’t even tell you how much I love the Dyson V6! It cleans up powdered sugar and cocoa like you wouldn’t believe, leaving zero signs behind!
You can get the Dyson V6 on Amazon. Right now it’s on sale for only $199! Plus it is free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime – try it out for 30 days for FREE!

Those are all great car cleaning tips, thanks. I need to clean the inside of mine. It's not too bad, but it could use cleaning. That vacuum looks really handy. I could definitely use that to clean out the car and the stairs.
