One of the biggest worries for families with back to school is how they will afford to pay for everything, clothing, school supplies, registration fees and more! Many times with education cut backs our schools don't have enough of a budget to offer school supplies for all the students and then it falls on the parents to make up the difference. But what if a family can't afford the extra cost?
#Champion4Kids and Elmer's join forces for back to school.
Champions for kids and Elmer's glue both know the value of a child's education. They also know how difficult it is for that child when they don't have the proper supplies to enrich their education. These two amazing companies have joined forces to create a simple service project that any one can join to help enrich children's education!
Elmer’s #BagItForward CFK SIMPLE Service Project is about gathering new quality school supplies and, assembling school supply kits for kids who are most in need.
Improve a child's education with a simple service project; donate school supplies.
I had the amazing opportunity to join the campaign to bring much needed school supplies to students! Many times we've been the recipients of much appreciated donations to my children's education and here is my chance to give back by joining the bag it forward project!
With the kids in tow we set off for the store to gather our school supplies.
Of course, what type of donation of school supplies would it be without Elmer's glue! My kids use it all the time in school! We definitely had to add some of those to our donation kit.
It was fun to find all the great deals on the school supplies! It definitely helped me get the most out of our money!
With our cart loaded with supplies we were ready to head out! The kids had a lot of fun helping me pick out school supplies that they actually used a lot in school. You can see our entire school supply shopping experience from our Google+ album.
I wanted to get a good variety of items that I knew kids used inside the classroom. I know many times with budgets so low, that by the middle of the school year the teachers run out of supplies and then have to go buy more out of pocket. I don't think a teacher should have to give up their income to provide learning equipment for our children, they don't get paid enough as it is! So I'm excited to be able to help contribute to one classroom this fall, to hopefully make the school supplies last a little longer.
Bag it forward by selecting a donation destination for the simple service project.
Once you have all your supplies gathered, all you have to do it figure out a donation destination. There are many schools in your local area that would love the donation, or a specific teacher, PTO, or charitable organization. Maybe you could get more of your neighbors involved and create a large community run and gather school supplies on a large scale!
If you don't know anyone specific in the school system to donate to, don't worry you can still help out! Inside each Walmart you will notice bins with the Elmer's brand symbol on it! You can purchase school supplies and deposit them into these bins! They will then be donated to local schools or families in need.
Once we got home from our shopping trip, it was time to gather the school supplies we had purchased.
I'm really hoping this will help one lucky teacher's classroom supplies last a little longer this year!
After arranging all the school supplies into a gift bag it was time to make it look presentable.
I decided I wanted to give back to the local schools where I grew up. I remember how frustrating it was as a child with the school continually getting budget cuts and losing programs in the schools all due to not enough funds. I want to give back to my community. So I've found a teacher over in Star Valley, Wyoming, and I will soon be traveling there to present her with our collection of school supplies. I'm quite excited to have my kids involved in this donation so they can see the value and benefit of helping others.
Growing up our school colors were always red and gold. So I figured it ought to be fitting that the school supplies to help the schools should be presented in the school colors as well.

Such a great cause. I love that you bagged it up to look like a gift instead of just a donation!
