We all know I am all about easy recipes. I like simple but I also love flavor! So in the effort to spice up our routine for family dinner, I experimented and found out how to make the easiest and most delicious Smokey Applewood Bacon BBQ chicken tacos in less than 15 minutes! And let me tell you, these are amazing, and your family will love the change! And you will love how little time you have to spend cooking!
BBQ Chicken Tacos in less than 15 minutes
So I’ve been really sick lately. Nauseous. It’s not fun. Which means the less time I’m in the kitchen around food and smells; the better. So while you could spend some extra time cooking up this delicious family dinner, by cooking the chicken from scratch and then shredding it, I did it the lazy way and opened two 12 oz cans of chicken in water. Cuts off about 20 minutes of cooking time. But still tastes great.
Then set the chicken in a saute pan to warm up, at the same time in a different pan cook up a few strips of bacon.
When the bacon is done, pull it out and set it aside on a paper towel. When the chicken is warm, drizzle in the McCormick Skillets Smokey Applewood BBQ Chicken sauce.

Next continue to heat the chicken until the sauce is warm.
Now we simply build the tacos. Thus far we are probably 5-8 minutes into the entire dinner process. I’m telling you it is so easy.
Take a soft taco shell and fill it with Lettuce.
Then add the BBQ chicken plus a little Shredded cheese.
Top it off with your other favorite taco toppings like salsa and sour cream.
Lastly, break up the bacon and sprinkle on top.
And now you are done! A delicious and super easy family dinner. Rich in flavor and tastes like you spent the entire day in the kitchen. A little trick up your sleeve, because I really only spent 10-15 minutes and I’m done! Probably closer to 10 minutes. I really pushed it, cause being sick is not a fun way to cook.
But really the family loved it. They really appreciated a home cooked meal even though I’m sicker than a dog. And they loved the flavor. I loved how easy and quick this meal is. Definitely a keeper for rushed nights. And maybe when this nausea goes away I can even enjoy the flavor just like my family does!
- 2 cans of Chicken in water ( 12 OZ each can)
- Shredded cheese
- Sour Cream
- 2 strips of Bacon
- McCormick Skillets Smokey Applewood BBQ sauce
- Cook bacon and set aside
- Warm canned chicken in a pan
- mix in the McCormick Skillets Sauce until warm
- Fill taco shell with lettuce
- Add the chicken mixture and sprinkle with cheese
- Top with your favorite taco toppings such as the sour cream and salsa
- Sprinkle the top with bacon pieces
- Serve warm
You should be able to make up 10 little tacos with this recipe and that makes for a great family feast!
The other great bit about this simple family dinner is that it is a low points option for anyone on the Weight Watchers program! You’ll want to measure exactly how much sour cream you put on each taco to get the correct points calculated. But with my measurements in the photos, each taco is only 4 points plus! How cool is that! A great dinner for very little points!
