Ever since I first discovered about a steam mop I have wanted one! The idea of cleaning your floor without chemicals greatly appealed to me, shamefully though I was even more excited about how easy it would make cleaning floors! With hot steam it would mean a lot less scrubbing and less time waiting for the floors to dry.
About a year ago, I finally bought myself my very first steam mop. We have old flooring with nasty edging due to culking and trim coming off before we became the tenants. But since we are only renting there wasn’t much I could do except to just clean it as best as possible. The steam mop I bought worked well enough. Though it was hard to keep the steam coming out, and sometimes I’d end up with wet spots and other spots with no steam at all. It was a bit fickle.
Then just recently I came across the new Bissell Symphony. It claimed to be the best steam mop in the market. That intrigued me, because the steam mop I purchased had a very high reputation for quality steam mops. Obviously I won’t mention the brand cause I don’t want to deal with any legalities. But it is a well know brand name model.
With the excitement of our new home purchase and moving, our house has been a bit turned upside down. And I haven’t been as diligent cleaning my floors as usual. And with all the extra boxes dispersed across the floor, that sort of puts a damper on getting the floors cleaned. So when the Bissell Symphony arrived, I sort of set it aside and forgot about it. Shameful, I know! Normally I would have had it ripped open and used that very hour!
But this week, I couldn’t take it any longer. I cleared out the boxes and pulled out the bissel steam mop and got to work.
Bissell Symphony vs the other Steam Mop
The Bissell steam mop was a lot easier to put together than my other steam mop. Only one piece to attach instead of 3. It snapped on in one easy second and it was ready to go! I filled the reservoir with water and in 30 seconds it was ready to steam, again…faster than my other steam mop which usually takes about 1 minute and is a lot harder to fill with water.
The Bissell Symphony steam mop can stand up in its own. My other steam mop can’t. It continually crashes to the ground, even if I lean it carefully against the wall or furniture while I move the table chairs around for cleaning. So while it’s not a make or break feature; it is very helpful when I need to leave it let go to move furniture.
The Bissell Symphony allows you to select the level and intensity of steam with a Hi and Lo setting. My other steam mop? Nope. One steam setting fits all.
The Bissell Symphony has a thicker and much longer power cord. More distance I can cover without having to stop and move the power cord to a different outlet. It also has an easy adjustable handle. While my other steam mop can be adjusted, it is harder to adjust the handle and it only has 3 settings, where the Bissell Symphony has 5 easy adjustable settings. And then the handle can be put back at its lowest setting for easy storage, taking up far less room.
The Bissell Symphony comes with 4 Microfiber Mop Pads With Microban® Product Protection. The Microban antimicrobial protection helps fight odor-causing bacteria. It comes with 2 regular pads and 2 scrub pads. My other one only came with 1 pad, without bacteria protection and I had to purchase extras separately.
But here is the biggest difference and why the Bissell Symphony steam mop takes the cake! The Bissell Symphony steam mop has a built in vacuum! Seriously! You can vacuum and steam mop your hard floors all at the same time! No joke! No more need for sweeping and the dust mopping before steam cleaning! Nope! It is all down to ONE machine doing the job of three!
It’s all thanks to an innovative design that utilizes a powerful cyclonic action vacuum to pick up small to large, dry debris off the floor before it comes into contact with the specially designed steam foot. Steam then cuts through grease and grime to clean sticky, stuck-on messes. It’s the only product on the market that can vacuum and steam at the same time.
It literally turned a 30-40 minute job into a 10-15 minute job! And that is because my floors are so gross. Had I been more diligent keeping them clean it would have been done a lot faster.
And baby! That vacuum on the Bissell Symphony steam mop has quite some power! I would be going along and I would see some of the cat’s hair from about 6-10″ away sliding across the floor towards the Bissell Symphony! Talk about power!
And never once did the Bissell Symphony leave wet spots. It put out the exact amount of steam needed for a brilliant clean. Not too much and not too little. My floors have never looked so clean with so little effort before!
Seeing as our new home has a lot of tile, I am very excited to take this new Bissell Symphony steam mop with us! As it is ideal to be used on sealed hard flooring such as ceramic tile, vinyl, laminate, marble, stone, and hardwood floors. (Not to be used on unsealed hardwood floors). The other steam mop…well it will be making an appearance on a garage sale site very soon.
The Bissell Symphony steam mop can be purchased at Best Buy! And you also want to make sure you use this Coupon code for free steam pads! It is only available online as they don’t sell the pads in the store. But you can get a FREE pack of mop pads with purchase of a Bissell Symphony using online code BISSELLSYMPHONY.

It vacuums AND steams at the same time?? That's my favorite feature - I need time/worksavers. Count me in! There is a Best Buy right near here. I am sick of looking at the grungy tile floors, and I sure don't have the energy to get down on my hands and knees to scrub.
