A Closer look at Organic Dog Food
This last month we have been discussing about organic dog food and the benefits and why people choose to feed their pets organic pet food. If you haven’t seen them I suggest you check out our post on Organic Pet Food and People’s opinions on Organic Food for Pets!
All the discussion had me quite curious about organic dog food. We’ve never found any organic dog food before. So I was excited to find out that our local PetSmart actually carried Organix from Caster & Pollux! It is frequently found at Health Food stores, but our Health food stores didn’t have any. So it really surprised me that PetSmart carried it! We love PetSmart and shop there often for our Dog needs. So I loved how convenient it was for us to pick up a higher quality dog food at the same time as we pick up all our other pet needs for our dog and cat!
ORGANIX Dry Food For Dogs is Crafted especially for big dogs, the food’s No. 1 ingredient is free-range chicken. We have always been particular to make sure that our dog food always contain meat as the #1 ingredient. And then they add organic brown rice and fresh organic fruit and vegetable purées that provide natural sources of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Learn more about the Organix Formula here.
I loved that it was really easy to locate the food too! I mean seriously how cool is it that the store lists each brand on the isle signs!
And I loved the variety of flavors available at our PetSmart! We had organic and natural choices. And they came in different varieties based on what you need for your pet, big or small or young or old.
Plus they also had canned Organic Dog Food as well! We love to treat Odin to canned dog food to help break up the monotony of his dry dog food. And the husband is also known to slip him some extra table scraps of real fruits and vegetables from our table (Only the ones that are safe for Dogs that is).
I loved seeing flavors that line up with the same foods we often slip Odin from the kitchen table! Real food! That he loves. Not highly processed! Flavors like Chicken, Turkey, carrots and sweet potatoes!
Oh our sweet Odin was so excited! Normally when we fill up his dog dish of food each morning, it slowly gets nibbled at throughout the day. But when we put in the Oragnix dog food; he went crazy for it! He clears his bowl every time within 10 minutes of us filling his bowl!
And the canned Organix dog food, oh my goodness! We about had a war in our house! Dog and cat went nuts as soon as I popped open the can! They could smell it and they both couldn’t wait to dig it. Silly cat wouldn’t leave Odin alone and kept trying to steal the goodness.
And our cat Wally is often known for coming and “sneaking” some of the dog food. Odin eats his entire dish so quickly the Cat doesn’t get a chance to steal any! Ha! I’m loving it! The cat…not so much. But he can deal with it.
I have loved the idea that we are able to offer real food for Odin. Food that he seems to enjoy more than any other kind of food we’ve given him before. And we love the quality of the nutrition he is enjoying.
